Behind the Hospital was written in a period of loss and nothingness. It was written in a barren moment in time as a spontaneous response towards meaning. It is birthed next to the grave of my dreams and transcends towards a direction of healing.

The title is significant – it echoes the location of where the body of my loved one (20) was found murdered and abandoned – behind the hospital. His journey on earth ended there. My quest for emancipation starts here. The target audience is ordinary people like me (and you) who wrestle with battles. These unrehearsed battles may take place in physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, psycho-social and various other domains. They may take place in public or private alleys, where help seems near, but not near enough.
The book’s tone is clear and honest. It is unpretentious and bare in direction. It is based on hope. As the writer, my position on the matter is plain – I don’t claim to be an expert on anything other than myself. That is also questionable when one needs to walk on water or walk through fire without burning. God steps in and calls the writer and reader to discard their broken dreams and wrecked ambitions for His indestructible plan found in His Word.
This book records a journey into healing. It calls for sincerity – even if only with self. The reader is challenged to internalize and reflect on the core thoughts from each chapter. Each chapter is wrapped up with a personal introspection text box whereby the reader engages with the text and self.
Excerpt
"Apart from being the actual location where the body of someone I loved was found; the location is also a metaphoric representation of where this journey commences.
From a distance, comfort and healing seem to be within sight, but out of reach to the one in need right now. The heart aches in brokenness as daylight awakens the pain of knowing. Knowing that today is lacking a physical presence that loved me.
The location is specific – it applies to the individual. It is not camouflaged by statistics nor perpetuated by the norm. In spite of being a remote location away from the public sphere where help is openly offered; the battle that happens here is not a trivial battle.
Like my loved one, I am convinced that we all have critical conditions. Battles that we undertake behind the hospitals, in lonely alleys, secret locations and sometimes public places that are out of reach to those who seem to care.
This may be our own doing or sometimes even matters beyond our control. It does not matter if it’s to good or bad people who deserve it or not. What counts is that it is of importance to the one lying behind the hospital.
This moment, this tragedy has left me paralyzed behind the hospital and if I listen carefully, I can hear the voices of many others seemingly strong people lying out of sight from various spots behind public domains.
I can hear the voice of a mother crying for a minor who is no more on this dimension of earth. At a distance I can hear the faint groan of a granny who can only groan internally as she sits next to the open grave of the blood of her blood. Behind a tree is a father who feels helpless and wounded, but is silent..."
Through insightful and thought-provoking writing, the author encourages readers to embark on a journey of self-reflection, guiding them to access inner wisdom and cultivate a mindset conducive to a better understanding of our world.
