When it comes to believing in ghosts, Americans are split pretty evenly. Set on a dead end cul-de-sac named Kinsley Circle in the small rural town of Edam, Virginia, the book focuses on a wrong that was done over 100 years ago, which has come back to haunt the current inhabitants of the land. The cul-de-sac is inhabited by only three homes occupied by three couples: George and Alice Kinsley live in the oldest home, Chief of Police Paul Thompson, his wife, and two children live in another and attorney Ellen Reinhart and her psychologist husband psychologist David reside in the third.
Alice's sudden death in her sleep propels George into a self-imposed state of isolation and sleeplessness; but when he begins claiming to hear wolves and dogs howling in the woods in the wee hours of the night, a tremendous change in his personality takes place, almost as if he has become possessed. The neighbors are deeply concerned, and anxious to get George committed for therapy – but what if this is not a problem that psychiatry can solve? Circumstances go from bad to worse as whatever has changed George is now causing strife and disruption among the remaining neighbors.
The residents of Kinsley Circle consider themselves skeptics: one is a career law-enforcement official, another a trained Ph.D. psychologist. Both believe in the scientific approach. But when they begin to hear strange noises for hours, every night, at the exact same time, and the auditory "hallucinations" soon are accompanied by visual "hallucinations," something has to be done – even if it means admitting that ghosts really do exist.
For skeptics and believers alike, Kinsley Circle provides a though-provoking and compelling story that readers will have a hard time leaving alone.
Kevin Cowan was born in Teaneck, NJ and raised in Wayne, NJ and moved to Florida in 1980. He started college at age 50 and that’s where he found writing to be his utopia. He only writes at 4 am and finds that his writing flows at that time of day. He is looking forward to writing more novels.
