These books are not your standard crime stories, they ask questions of the characters involved, why are they there, how did they become inolved in this situation. Was this their plan, have they been forced, coerced, threatened?
Are the people in these stories true criminals or are they innocent victims?
Excerpt
I waked towards the Jeep, inspecting each of the bodies in turn. When I say inspect, I mean I saw the wounds, the gaping holes, the torn flesh and protruding bone. I gave each of these dead men a prod, a gentle nudge with the toe of my shoe.
I am uncertain why, because it was obvious to me that they were dead, totally dead, annihilated. But I poked them anyway, rocking them just enough to satisfy myself of that fact.
From the Jeep I headed towards the black Audi. It was much the same, dead men, blood, wounds, huge wounds, mangled flesh. In real life being shot is nothing like the way it is portrayed in Hollywood movies. There is no neat little hole oozing a fine trail of tomato ketchup.
In the real world, with today’s weapons and ammunitions if you get shot in the shoulder the parabellum will splay out, it will fracture and tear your arm apart. You would be lucky if it stayed attached to the rest of your body.
