One hundred years after World War III, the United Government has full control of it's citizen's lives. Sion can't help but dream of something better, but can anyone really defy the United Government?
Imagine living in a world where your life is no longer your own. Your college, your career, even who you will marry, are all decided by the government. Once you marry, the government will decide where your live and work and eventually how many children you will have.
To the citizens of the New World, this is a way of life. A way of life they have accepted for nearly a hundred years. To do anything else would be considered treason, a crime punishable by death. Many long for freedom, but would anyone actually be capable of defying the United Government.
Excerpt
Sion didn't know how much longer she could make it, her body was slowly wearing down, her vision was getting blurred, she was dizzy and she felt like vomiting. She staggered listlessly into the cover of the trees, Helena crept slowly behind her with her gun drawn. Sion gave her a suspicious glare.
"That's right, kill me and get it over with," moaned Sion, as she vomited up the small amount of water that was all her stomach contained.
"Relax will you, I'm just keeping an eye on you, it's not safe in these woods alone," snapped Helena, her eyes darting around anxiously.
"Just shoot me, you know you want to," groaned Sion, sinking to her knees as she continued to wretch uncontrollably.
A deafening gunshot rang out through the grove of trees and it seemed as if Athens and Santiago arrived there in the space of an instant, both of their faces consumed with worry. Sion was sitting back on her heels gasping to breathe she was so stunned, and Helena was calmly tucking her gun back into her holster.
Athens was stunned to see a female Cyborg, shot in the chest, laying there, just inches from Sion.
"Holy crap!" cried Athens, his face completely stunned.
"What the hell is that thing!" cried Sion, when she was finally able to breathe.
"It's a Cyborg, we've got to go, there are probably more," snapped Helena, turning to head for the road.

A intellectual mix of political satire and futuristic romance!
I love science fiction and the political undertones of this book were very thought provoking. The main characters have been essentially brainwashed by their government from birth, though I noticed that several reviewers of this book failed to pick this up. They are essentially naive to the concept of freedom.
When Sion meets the jaded scientist Santiago, who will be her partner in research, see soon begins to see that her life is not as ideal as she once thought it was.
This book is a warning to us, our freedoms are slipping away from us at a very alarming rate, wake up and smell the coffee people, this could totally happen!!!

Post apocalyptic fiction at it's best, when all those conspiracy theorists worst nightmares are finally realized. The people of the earth have been brainwashed into submission by the earth's, all powerful, United Government. Trapped in a form of slavery, every aspect of their lives is controlled and monitored by the United Government. They can only comply. Doing otherwise or speaking badly of the Government could be labeled "treason" a crime punishable by death.
Sion is young and intelligent and well on her way as a promising scientist. Though she is not fond of the idea that the government has complete control over her life, she is not sure what she can possibly do about it. Her marriage to a complete stranger and a move to continent that is completely foreign to her sets off a series of events that will change her outlook on life forever and possibly endanger her life in this "One World United".
I love books that can paint a picture and completely draw you into their world. Once I started I couldn't put it down. I've read lots of other books written on a similar premise, but this was definitely the most successful, I can see this being made into a movie, it was a definite thrill ride! (less)

Loved it. I love post apocalyptic fiction and this is one of the best I've read! The people of the earth are completely shell shocked after the Third World War, they have become fake and complacent. The all powerful United Government controls every aspect of their lives, including who they will marry and how many children they will have. When you've been told since infancy that this was just how life is, you just go on. Many dream of a life that is truly their own, but defying the government is treason, a crime punishable by death.
Sion is resigned to go along with it all, what else can she do, but concede to this false life the government has created for her? When she accidentally becomes pregnant with an "unauthorized" baby her arrest and execution seem eminent. What will happen to Sion and her baby?
