Thirty years with lots of time and not so much money makes for a VERY long vacation. So… what’s a 55+ Baby Boomer to do? Work? Play? Travel? Volunteer? Or a combination of all these? Here at home or abroad? Alone or with a partner? In cyberspace or from home or at the office? Full or part time?
With more than 10,000 adults turning 55+ every day since 2012, everyone is speculating about what the Boomers will be doing for the next 30-50 remaining years of their lives, not least of all we Boomers ourselves. Arguably this next could be our BEST life passage. But first we need to “shift gears,” rediscover our SELVES, then redesign our upcoming lives.
Boomers Duckworth and Langworthy have penned a one-source “call to action” to all 55+ Boomers to invent their own personal and professional Next Phase, known in the past as ‘Retirement.’ They present a creative, compelling, specific roadmap to how Boomers can and will live their last and BEST opus -- energetically, creatively, and productively.
Get ready, world, for the onslaught of healthy, somewhat well-heeled Boomers, soon to be numbered at more than 77 million, who are not willing to be defined by the number of candles on their birthday cake. This group is ripe for specific direction, modern resources, and ‘light my fire’ inspiration to help them fashion their last best opus. This is their book.

CHAPTER 1: Who Are We?
Behold the tsunami of data sweeping across America about “The Baby Boomer Generation.” Just log onto amazon.com, where you’ll find literally thousands of “how to retire,” “where to retire,” “when to retire,” “why to retire,” and “whether to retire” titles! The big question ahead for employers, service providers, businesses and government agencies alike is “What are the Baby Boomers going to do?” and “When and where are we going to do it?” We want to know the answers to these questions, too.
Whether we are talking about financial resources, projecting health conditions and needs, discussing personal relationships, planning career options, or anticipating the lasting impact on the culture, the data is conclusive and compelling. Our group of senior citizens, born any time be-tween 1946 and 1964, and numbering more than 77 million, is a force to be reckoned with.
As a group, we will require and provide significant quantities of products and services. And, as we always have, we will contribute to and change the American landscape as no other generation has before. Constituting about 30% of the population, we will continue to exert substantive political, social, cultural, and economic clout.
Simultaneously, we Baby Boomers will find that, voluntarily or otherwise, we are being buffeted about by these same political, social, cultural and economic forces that we ourselves have contributed to.
WOW FACTOR
Beginning in 2011, and continuing for 19 years, about 10,000 Baby Boomers will turn 65 every day.
