I've read a lot of books here but have to admit that I registered with the site in order that I may comment on your book. What a fantastic idea!. I was hooked from the first sentence to the very last and in many ways was longing for more. As a child my friends and I did a number of things that your Dixon Desperados did as well.
The scenes are detailed so beautifully that I felt I was there with them. From the trials at the courthouse to the 4th of July town bar-be-cue and everywhere in between, I was there with Marian and her friends.
Introducing the mysterious Creek Indian into the mix made all the difference in this book. I found that your research was accurate in so many different aspects, from the dialogue of the time period to your descriptoion of hte old sawmill. Great work is all I can say.
I will purchase this book the moment it hits the store. Thanx for sharing it with us.
Tha Path
Amazing story written during a time period in American history seldom written about. I loved Marian and the relationship she builds with the Indian was fantastic. All the characters were richly developed and the scene building and descriptions made me feel like I was there with them, especailly when Marain was fleeing for her life from the wild boar.
Like other commenter's here I was also reminded of a number of my own childhood adventrues which I had all but forgotten. For that reason alone the book was a wonderful read for me. The tribute to your father at the end almost made me cry. Great story and sure to be a great success.
