Journey back in time from the Indian Legend of the Cedar tree to the present when a new journey unfolds on a dangerous mission deep beneath the earth to a hidden spring to discover an ancient secret.

Beyond The Pond is a family friendly story with a Christian theme for young readers to adults. Taking place in the fictional town of Grande Hills, Texas, journey back in time from the Indian legend of the Cedar tree to the almost near tragedy that changed Cathryn Price's life forever. No one believed Cathryn's story about how she was saved from drowning, so she stopped trying to convince anyone and kept the secret all to herself. Cathryn grew up, married and built a home near the Red River.  She chose this spot for a very special reason, and also built a pond on her land. Today Cathryn's great granddaughter, Linda, and her nine year old son, Brady live in the old Victorian home. Brady struggles with changes in his life and finds that bringing back the old pond helps to distract him from his own real life tragedies. What he doesn't know is that the pond and Cedar are in danger due to a Texas drought and night prowlers. The answer is for Olivia, a new and somewhat fearful fish in the pond, to leave the pond in search of a hidden spring and its inhabitants to save the legendary Cedar.  And so, a new journey begins deep beneath the earth through an ancient passageway. Olivia's adventure not only encounters danger, but she discovers a secret kept safe for over fifty years. Brady learns to cope with embarrassment and defeat, and finds that God has a plan for his life after all. Beyond the Pond presents an interesting collection of characters, including one who has been around since The Beginning! The gospel message is explained in a simple truth between the most unlikely couple. Three homes and three stories come together for a surprising ending.

Excerpt

Chapter 24 - Cathryn: She let out a scream, "Help!" raising one arm out of the river, searching the air for an invisible hand to pull her out. The unforgiving water swept Cathryn along like a twig with no direction or control. The speed of the water increased, pulling her towards the drop. Cathryn fought the stubborn river with all her strength. Sterling swam alongside her hoping she'd grab onto the armor plates on his back. She saw him and their eyes met. Cathryn knew he was there for her - a life line to shore. Reaching out, she touched him and pulled herself close to his neck. She held on tight with both arms while Sterling headed to land, but Cathryn lost her grip and was captured by the greedy river again.

Beyond The Pond
Wonderful story - engaging enough for kids and adults reading to kids. This is an allegory with a spiritual story underlying the plot and characters; an outstanding work by a first time author. Enough mystery and fantasy to engage the reader of all ages; in part, inspired by a Cherokee legend. I loved the animal characters. Although the story starts in the 1950s, it quickly moves to present day and references contemporary things (like curly fries)that kids will relate to. There is a lot of information about nature, animals, and even hydrology subtly woven into the story without making it feel academic. A great book for home schools where it could be incorporated into several study lessions. M Watanabe "Booklady"/Amazon

Beyond The Pond
Wonderful - Really gets the imaginations flowing. Olivia and Charlie set out on a mission to save Thalia, which isn't a simple task for two little fish. There's adventure, danger and suspense. This is a great book for children and young adults that incorporates imagination with the creation story and shows how sin has affected nature and still affects natures as well as individuals. It certainly draws you in making you think what will happen next, and if good will overcome evil. I look forward to the second book. Abbie/Goodreads

Beyond The Pond
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are unique and keep you drawn in. The story is well laid out and moves quickly. You don't want to put it down. I will continue to watch for more of her writings. Only occasionally does a story come out that makes me take notice enough to keep an eye on the author. MaryAnn/Goodreads
