Three hundred years after being turned into an Immortal, Kyra, also known as the Immortal Warrior, returns to her home, the island of Albion. She arrives at her hometown to find that it has been burned to the ground by a mysterious figure named the Black Knight, a powerful thief lord whose domain extends across the whole nation.

Meanwhile, all semblance of central authority has broken down with the assassination of the last king. Kyra sets off to find out more about the Black Knight and soon meets up with a band of adventurers that includes two nobles, Cay and Arthur, along with several other warriors, Gwyn, Liz, Lance, Bediver, Tor, and Daniel. Together, they travel through the countryside, protecting the townsfolk from vengeful fey. Alex, otherwise known as the Black Knight, prepares to perform one last stunt before pulling out for good.

Kyra and the Companions arrive at Waycliff to find that a prophet has appeared, saying whosoever pulls out the sword in the stone is the lost son of the long dead king and the rightful heir. After convincing Arthur he really is the true king, Merlin accompanies the others to Tintagel where the twelve Lords of the Land will meet. The Black Knight amasses troops against them but their enemy may not be what he seems.
