A call to investigate the mysterious death of a hiker at Wind Cave National Park bring U.S. Park Service investigators Jill and Doug Fletcher back to the Black Hills in December. The investigation takes an unusual turn when the park superintendent reveals that the dead hiker had a female companion who's been missing since the hiker died. The investigation broadens when the hiker's credit card is used in Rapid City. On the brink of solving the crime, a blizzard sweeps through the Black Hills bringing life to a standstill.
