Max Harmon is back and on the run, trying to save the love of his life and his own as well.
Sharon Cauley helped Max Harmon to find his brothers killer in 'A Walk in Harm's Way'. Now, it's time for Max to return the favor when Sharon's boss, and former lover, goes missing, and is presumed dead, along with $500 million dollars. But, the money belonged to some very bad people and they want it back with a pound of flesh. Sharon and Max are now on the run from some very dangerous people. Max is sent around the globe in search of the money before the owners can catch up to Sharon or Max and kill them both.
Answers are elusive in this taught thriller. Who killed Ainsley Bergstrom? Who took the money...Ainsley or his killers. Who is trying to kill Max and Sharon? Can you figure it out before the gunsmoke clears?

Chapter Two
Max knew with unerring certainty that he was going to die in less than a minute. He had never told this to anyone but he was terrified of drowning. Maxwell Harmon, retired super-spy for Uncle Sam, explorer and white water kayaker, fearless in all things, was tangled in underwater debris like any hapless detritus.
Having been under for more than two minutes, he was almost out of breath. He would begin to lose consciousness very soon. He turned his face toward the cool water's surface only three feet above him. It may as well have been a mile.
He could see the black claws of dead tree branches above him, stirring air into the rushing water. Beams of sunlight shimmered green through the water as if Heaven were lighting his way home. His body began to feel warmer in the water. In spite of the danger and risk he had overcome in his life, it was now going to end here. All because of one bloody mistake.
Perry Conners, Arizona tycoon and soon-to-be politician, can't sleep or make love anymore, and he's losing all sense of reality. Is it the Devil's fault?
In the gripping finale of the BetterWorld cyberpunk series, Waylee, Kiyoko, and their friends attempt to bring down an all-powerful corporation and a corrupt government--all while eluding the biggest manhunt in history.
