A light hearted romance that finds two strangers spending a week together in the hills of Colorado.
Pamela Bradford Tinsley is moving across the United States to work in
her father's West Coast offices. Although happy to be working with her father, she is not happy that her father's main interest seems to be setting her up with his right hand man Dallas Trent. After making it perfectly clear she's not interested in this or any other relationship at the moment, Pam takes a much needed vacation before starting her new position in the company. Her destination...the family cabin in Colorado where she hasn't visited since she was a teenager. In the meantime, Dallas is taking a week off himself and Simon Tinsley has offered him his empty cabin for a week of fishing and relaxing. It's just the kind of week Dallas needs, until a small, blonde stranger interrupts his sleep at midnight. With neither willing to divulge personal information or give up their rights to the cabin, a week of grief seems to be their destiny. But destiny has other ideas for these two...and falling in love is at the top of that list.

Flipping on the kitchen light in much the same manner she’d done in her bedroom, she stood for a moment surveying the room. It looked the same upon general inspection, but little things were different. There were small things out of place, almost as if someone had used them recently. Maybe her father had lent the cabin out or rented it to someone. He’d talked about that several times. But, no, he would have told her something that important.
Taking hesitant steps, Pam touched the countertops and ran her finger over the faucet of the sink. Her mother had stood here so many times, so many hours. She’d made wonderful pies and cookies and Pam and Darcie woke up to the smell of hot cinnamon rolls many mornings. Her mother used to say that she hoped heaven smelled as good as apple pie. She would touch a flour covered finger to the end of Pam’s nose and smile. Maybe her mother knew she was dying even then.
Pam wiped at a tear that had strayed down her cheek and turned with the intention of checking her parents’ room, but stopped instantly. The tall, dark haired man that leaned nonchalantly against the kitchen doorframe froze her where she stood. The chocolate brown eyes bore into her, making her feel as if she were the intruder. His arms were folded across a wide expanse of bare chest and his jeans were on but not zipped. If the shock of seeing someone in her parents’ cabin was not enough to scare her to death, the sight of this half-naked, beautiful specimen before her was!
There was no hint of a smile or amusement as he quietly asked, “Afraid of the dark? Or do you just enjoy turning on every light in the house?”
His voice was not kind. It was deep and rumbled with an underlying threat. A slight twitch started in his jaw as he clenched and unclenched his teeth. Pam wasn’t sure if she should answer or turn and run out the kitchen door. Her fingers clenched instinctively around the flashlight she still held and she hoped she wouldn’t have to use it on that gorgeous head of his. Then, the anger rose and she straightened. The hand that had gone instinctively to her chest in fear lowered and made a tight fist. “Who are you?”
