YOUR OPTIONS WILL INFLUENCE YOUR DECISIONS
Our journeys through life are influenced by the kinds of decisions and choices we make. We all make decisions based on the options presented to us in life, but we do so based on our personal preferences. I remember a classmate and I had to choose which of the secondary schools we would attend after our graduation from primary school. We each had several options. I decided on Uzebba Grammar School at Uzebba, Edo state, Nigeria, rather than the other schools around at that time, but my classmate chose another school. All of us choose based on our personal preferences and perspectives.
Our perspective on things is the basis for our decision making process. The right perspective is vital to making wise decisions. People have different perspectives,however, and so my classmate chose another school from the one I chose. It was about our relative perspectives and personal preferences. Our going to these universities and the type of university all boiled down to our decisions, and our decisions are influenced by our perspective of the options presented to us.
Relationships are also built and formed through our decision making process.
The choices we make are what carry us forward in life. As you get older, you will see how important the choices we make are, so we must be careful in the making of them. Regardless, we will be held accountable for the choices we make in this life and in our chosen careers. Responsibility is part of life, like it or not, but being responsible is a choice you make. There is always responsibility associated with kind of choices we make. In order to make the right decisions and choices, we need wisdom—divine wisdom. You cannot substitute this divine wisdom for anything else. It is a must. Wisdom is the principle thing, a necessary quality, so seek it (Proverbs). We live in a society today where we think the best choices in life are those that bring us immediate relief rather than what would benefit us in the future. This is not wisdom.
Immediate relief is not always the best solution for people in the difficult situations they find themselves. I would rather make decisions for the future benefit rather than the immediate need. It is better for me to make decisions that will positively impact a wonderful future and set myself up for many blessing later, than to achieve immediate gratification and sacrifice this future. My desired future will be good when I make the decisions that will help me to be the best I can be and move me ever closer to that future.
When you aspired to be great or the best in your field, you should first ask what will be the best decision that will take you there. The place I always aspire to go and the person I always want to be will only come to pass when I take the right path and make wise, godly decisions. Would you rather forfeit your future by only focusing on what you perceive to be success this moment or will you accept some suffering and pain now to gain the glorious future that awaits you?
I believe you will be successful in every area of your life as you take godly steps in Jesus’ name. I see breakthroughs and successes coming your way as you make wise decisions. You can chose between immediate relief and long term success. Which one will you choose? Your future depends upon your choices. You can either endure some suffering now and enjoy blessings later or you can enjoy immediate gratification now and endure the pain of making bad decisions later. You can’t combine fleshly pleasure with fulfilment of God’s plan for your life.
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of pharaoh’s daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward. – Hebrew 11: 24-26
Don’t sacrifice your future success on the altar of the immediate success. We should learn from Moses who chose to suffer in the present because he saw a better future for all the Children of Israel in the future. He could have chosen the riches and treasures of Egypt and not suffered at all. But the future is too important to sacrifice for such paltry desires. Don’t be like Esau who sold his birth right for a bowl of soup. He threw away his future to satisfy an immediate need. Don’t let the immediate blind you or lure you into making bad decisions. We are void of vision and cannot see whenever we choose the immediate over the future benefits. Most of the bad choices we make in our life are the result of our inability to see beyond the immediate. I beg you; focus on those things that will build you the right future instead of those present gains that lead nowhere.
The choices and decisions you make in your personal life will affect your love ones or colleagues at work, school, and home. Your choices affect people positively or negatively. There are many people that will never reach their goals in life simply because of the poor decisions they made. It is not that God hates them—He doesn’t hate them—but they chose to walk wrongly in their own ways and ideologies. Your options influence your decisions, the work you do, and the kind of people you work with. These options should be taken serious before any decision is made. The options available to you in your life will influence who you marry, where you work, your health, and where the future will take you.
Life is shaped by the decisions and choices of people all around the world. This is the basic principles of our choices. There is nothing you see or experience today that did not come out of human decisions and ideas.
YOU ARE SPECIAL
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
Christians are a royal family. It is a great privilege to be called the people of God—especially when we were not part of His family before. The Scripture above makes it clear that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a peculiar people. The reason the Word of God refers to believers as special and as a royal priesthood is because we are from the Kingdom of God where God is king, ruling over His kingdom. We are chosen to show forth the praises of our King, who is the King of all kings.
God created you special to show forth the glory of God. We have been called out of darkness in order for us to display and demonstrate the glory of the Kingdom of our God on this earth. You became a “peculiar” person when you decided to be a Christian. You are a light, and a light should shine. Light is not needed where all is light all ready, but there is need for light in darkness. It is our duty to shine forth the glory of the Kingdom. Keep in mind, there are two forces that rule in this world: darkness and light.
We are called out to be God’s special people. Christians are not a special people because of our birth—we’re all creations of God. We are special because of what He has called believers to do. I love the fact that we have been called out of the world, but not to be stranded. We are called to move into the marvellous light of God’s kingdom. The kingdom of light is the kingdom you belong to as a Christian. Before Christ, we were in darkness, but now we are washed by His blood and saved to show forth His praises.
There are many reasons why you are a special person to God:
• You are special because God’s only Son died for you—John 3:16-18.
• You are special because you have been made a royal priest—1 Peter 2:9.
• You are special because you have royal blood in your body.
• You are special because you sit with Christ in heavenly places.
• You are special because you are made in His image and after His likeness.
• You are special because no one else shares your fingerprints.
• You are special because you have the DNA of God in you.
• You are special because no one is like you in the entire universe.
• You are special because you are a seed of Abraham—Galatians 3:28-29.
• You are special because you are the son of God—Galatians 3:26-27.
• You are special because you are a co-heir with Christ—Romans 8:17.
• You are special because you are heir of God—Romans 8: 17.
• You are special because you are fearfully made—Psalm 139:14.
• You are special because you are wonderfully made—Psalm 139:14.
You are special and you didn't have to anything stupendous in order to be special. Your speciality is not attached to your duty or your human connections. Who you are is not an aspect of your duty. You are not special because of your physical appearance, the haircut you have, or the way you dress. You are not special because you are a graduate of Cambridge or Oxford University. You are not special because you are the best....
