Democles and Z’Davaar, standing for God and the Devil respectively, have agreed to create the first humanoids on Eden. The Edeneans spread their race throughout the galaxy by Light ascension and creating other forms of life. However, when the most important sun in the system turns into a supernova, they start, for the first time in their existence, to fall ill and die.
In order to prevent utter extinction, they build Arka and head for the nearest wormhole, Megarra. But to reach the new destination, they have to face Anuk, who has agreed to obey Z’Davaar’s orders and destroy the other Edeneans, hoping to resurrect his lover, Asiria, who dies during the journey.
It is only the Earthman Lerman Kruger, a survivor of the Earth pandemic, exiled on Nede, a desert planet, that finds the strength to fight, with the support of the Edeneans in that corner of the universe, Uezen and his wife, Mud … The latter create an army of disciples to stop the forces led by Anuk, the dark Edenean who, through the power of drugs and mental influence, conquer planet after planet.
Under the circumstances, Namur, Lerman and Suara’s child, the possessor of Uezen’s consciousness and several matchless paranormal powers, becomes the great hope of Good and Light. But Namur, influenced by his love for Luana, has his weaknesses too and becomes the target of the malefic Anuk’s mental attacks.
During the outer space battle close to Nede, there comes a fissure between the material universe and the nether world. This fissure is brought about by the Earthmen’s encroaching upon the protocol between Democles and Z’Davaar, the former managing, by means of a scientific experiment, to capture the dead people’s souls and create an unprecedented weapon: the soul bomb. Thus the universe is invaded by the creatures of Darkness, the shadows and demons of Obscuris and the Purgatory, that are being chased by the angels led by Ethiel, Democles’s right hand.

At first, Democles, the master of Celestia, the World of Everlasting Light, concealed the information on Purgatory and Obscuris from the Edeneans. He did not want their purpose to be influenced by the existence of competing worlds, “strange” and “incomprehensible.” Any explanation could have caused a “curious” alternative. And he did not wish to offer Z’Davaar that advantage.
Democles created the first three hundred angels that were to observe the Edeneans’ evolution, their ascension and the spread of life in the universe. Their leaders were Ethiel, Miral, Geah, Randalf, Akamyel, Karon, Temuu Kamoon, and Sariman. But not all of them agreed to the way in which Democles exercised his power. Influenced by Z’Davaar, Sariman and two hundred angels chose to secretly interfere in humans’ lives. The first thing they did was to sleep with the young women, being attracted by their beauty and purity. The most powerful angels under Sariman’s command were Azmyel, Samyel, Baatrah, Aniel, Saymatun, Turiah, Yoniah, Arazen, Kabaraam, Azibar, Tamin, Ramon, Daniah, Saymaraan, Asydael, and Armon. They taught the women witchcraft, and how to change their appearance by using bracelets, adornments, hair dyes and nail paints. Then they forced them to sell their bodies to make profit and remove the humans from the way to eternal light.
When Democles heard about the angels’ plot, it was already too late. Unlawfulness had spread to several solar systems, debauchery had spread everywhere, and the first interbred children were born. They grew up fast, were much brighter and stronger than the other children, and had domineering and criminal tendencies. Z’Davaar was beside himself with joy. He knew that through his influence on Sariman he had broken the rules of the game, still he had an ace up his sleeve …
The Edeneans were told about the existence of Purgatory after several natural catastrophes stopped the cycle of their ascension. Democles had to give them hope, a place in which their souls were to “rest” till they found a new home. He wanted to create another planet for the Edeneans but promised Z’Davaar he would never interfere in the natural transformation of the universe without consulting him first. Z’Davaar knew there would be a time when Democles would ask him to do that. He had waited for four hundred million years for Uta’H to change into a red star and had prepared a long list of requests.
Finally, the masters of the two eternal worlds entered into a protocol that had to be equally observed by the two parties. They called it the Protocol of the Middle World. Purgatory, which at first had been only a store from which Democles and Z’Davaar chose the souls, had its structure and organization changed. Ethiel, the great angel, was chosen to rule it, having the gift of life and death and annihilation. Miral, Geah, Randalf, Akamyel, and Temuu Kamoon were chosen to run the higher levels. The souls of the dead Edeneans were to remain there till a new planet was created. In exchange, the rebellious angels, led by Sariman, had to live and run Purgatory’s lower levels, and watch the shadows. As a result of Z’Davaar’s putting pressure on Democles, Azmyel was the only angel left on Terra to deal with the demons and the interbred offspring. He, however, could not experience human feelings such as joy and pleasure so that he could no longer cross with the young women. Azmyel felt no emotions and no empathy.
Angel Karon, Ethiel’s second in power, ruled over the world of the dead, Crix-a-Dem, where he read karmas’ libraries, judged souls and prepared them for their journey to Purgatory, or back to the world of the living. Under his direct command were several angels, the most powerful of them being Goriah, Khoryel, Azeth, Syndael, Azuryal, and Surryel. Every angel had his mission. Azeth was the angel of death, who pulled the souls of the dying out of their bodies, through the mouth, painlessly, and handed them over to angel Goriah to be taken to Crix-a-Dem and then to Purgatory and the eternal worlds. Khryel watched over the young souls about to experience the first reincarnation and he was the first judge in the angels’ council chosen by Karon. Syndael ordered the souls, frightening and yelling at them, to leave the sick bodies they had become attached to and let them die. Azuryal watched over the humans’ virtues and ruled the races showing himself to their enlighted leaders who obeyed his orders. Surryel entered into the humans’ dreams and showed them what punishment was in store for their souls if they did not follow light’s way. He was the only angel who could travel through Celestia and Obscuris and consequently provide information about the souls that had gotten there. He also watched over the living Edeneans and recorded in the luminous karmas’ book their entire evolution.
Democles and Z’Davaar decided that the number of cycles in which the humans could evolve spiritually be reduced to 100 and the number of reincarnations to 7. The souls of those who were not able to evolve spiritually would be shadows to be kept for 666 years at Purgatory’s lower levels. Then they had the right to possess the living creatures of the universe and change them into demons. The demons lived thousands of years under Azmyle’s command, acquiring negative experience for the accomplishment of darkness and the return to Obscuris. Those who died without attaining their ends were annihilated by Ethiel.
Z’Davaar was pleased that the favoritism, forgiveness and mercy Democles showed to the stray souls were finally gone. He had spent too much time waiting on the one who changed the rules of the game as he wished. He hoped his new power of influence by means of the shadows and demons would bring a larger number of souls to Obscuris so that the balance of power could change. More than that, now he had the right to make his physical appearance in the living world, to lie to them and manipulate those who knew the history of the origins of the worlds and the universe, as Democles himself had given it to them by means of light … The first to fall into his trap was Anuk, one of the few surviving Edeneans …. Anuk thought Democles was just a rebellious soul, driven away from the world of eternal darkness.
