Excerpt

No man, woman, child, nor Doctor Who himself, can change your past - but you can change the present, and by doing that, you can determine the future. For those of you who are still struggling with the concept of it being an easy decision to make, read this chapter over again and come back to this place in the book. Do it now. Go on...

Did you do it? Are you back? Oh, look. You've just wasted more time. Do you want to go back and read it again?

Do you get it now? It's pointless, useless and counterproductive to carry on holding onto the past. It doesn't serve you, your loved ones, your friends or family; it doesn't serve your employers, your children or anyone you will have in your life from now on. Stop wasting more time, when you could be becoming a better person and building an incredible life instead.

Professional Reviews

Addiction Treatment Magazine
"Dive right into chapter one to find yourself turning the pages almost as fast as your eyes can devour the contents. It's that good. This is a fine book by a really happy addict in recovery. Burgess has a wealth of good suggestions, common-sense and practical exercises and should be an inspiration to many who are now or will be in recovery from alcoholism or drug addiction (or both)."

Readers' Favorite
"The Happy Addict shows different ways of thinking and being to have positivity and peace of mind in one's journey to sobriety. Beth's book, by offering the keys to making the best of one's experiences, enables one in creating a better future by rearranging the past."

Happy and Healthy! - Amazon customer review
My son was a heroin addict. As a consequence, I have read over 300 books on addiction. This is must read book.
Happy Addict is replete with a beautiful blend of science and common sense, written in a lay narrative.
When reading the book I feel like I am getting empirical advice from a friend and not listening to a therapist.
This book is not just for addicts, but gives simple clarity to life itself!
Beth Burgess makes things as simple as possible and no simpler. This is the kind of book that should be mandatory reading in High School. The chapter and exercise on discovering values is price less, especially to teenagers.
Needless to say this is an addictive read. ;-)
