Harker, still alive, returns to the United States, but now his wife, Mina, is the vampire's target.
Sword of the Undead introduces a new vampire: a Japanese samurai lord, and a new vampire slayer, legendary historical swordsman, Yagyu Jubei. Jubei arrives at the Harker household looking for a mutual acquaintance, but instead encounters the vampire. Incorporating real events in Japanese and United States history, Sword of the Undead combines old-fashioned horror with classic Japanese samurai drama resulting in an enjoyable re-telling of the Dracula story...with a twist.

Kageura drew a sword from a scabbard. The blade was brightly polished, and the edge sharper than anything Harker had seen. Kageura turned the blade to its side. Harker thought he noticed that Kageura’s face did not reflect off the highly polished, mirror-like surface, although he saw the furnishings behind his host just fine.
The host changed the subject. “I wanted to show you this, Mr. Harker. I told you about the battles my clan has fought. I feel that I have lived through those battles when I hold this sword. This sword has been passed down the generations. I will be the last guardian of this katana.”
“That is a very lovely sword. I can tell it is very sharp.”
“Yes. Very sharp.” Kageura brazenly nicked Harker’s face with the tip. Blood dripped out from Harker’s cheek. “I’m sorry. I seemed to have accidentally cut you.”
Kageura’s eyes turned bright blazing red and focused on the blood. He leaned forward towards Harker’s face. Harker took out a handkerchief from an inside pocket and did not notice the fangs that grew out and protruded from Kageura’s mouth. As Harker’s linen came out, so did his Catholic wife’s good luck charm she had given him before he boarded the steamer: a crucifix.
