A Promising New Series
This is such a multidimensional book. I've been reading a lot of books that are out of my comfort zone lately, and, intrigued by the synopsis, I picked this one up. When reading books from authors I don't know, I typically don't have many expectations, so I was very happy to find that I'd chosen a book that is not only unique, but also captivating and memorable. I really enjoy the characters, and I became pretty invested in David and Zachary by the end of this book. It was not hard at all to throw yourself into the story--Gorospe really takes you to a new place within his book so that it feels like you're right there with the characters. I cannot wait to read the next installment for this series. It is definitely very promising, and Myles Gorospe is one author that I will remember!
A compelling story of family and faith
Myles Gorospe drops you straight into the action right from the start, and the pace never lets up. If you know anything at all about Revelations then you know this is the war for all the marbles. It's an epic battle of good vs evil, with Heaven and Hell battling it out while humanity takes a beating of biblical proportions. Amid the chaos and suspense is a story of a father and son holding on to each other against incredible odds.
David and Zachary find themselves in the middle of a holy war that will not allow them to stay on the sidelines. It's fast paced and wildly imaginative, drawing inspiration from the Book of Revelations and its many prophesies. The father and son come to learn their destinies were pre-ordained and now they must determine who is friend and who is foe in the ultimate battle. Their relationship grounds the story and makes it considerably more compelling than I thought it would be. The battle is only beginning, and I look forward to seeing how this series plays out.
A Tale Of Family Loyalty and Faith Amidst Apocolyptic Circumstances
After reading 'Revelation' I am really eager to read the next book in this trilogy series. The story begins with David, the father, and Zachary the son facing a drastically changing world. The plot immidiately starts off running, and you better be ready to keep reading- because it's hard to put this story down once you begin. In this biblically inspired fantasy tale, heaven and hell open up emulating the Bible's description written in the book of Revelations. Essentially the world is coming to an end and mankind must choose between eternal life with God, or succumbing to the opposite end of the spectrum.
David and Zachary are thrust into a very heart-wrenching tale of loss and self-discovery amidst apocolyptic circumstances. Each of them was born in that particular time for a reason, and as the story progresses each of them discover their purpose and place in the chaos around them. They discover their enemies and their allies, and then choose their side in the Holy War. Their father and son bond is unstoppable and they fight through each page to protect one another and find the faith they need to continue pushing forward. They are both thrust from scene change to scene change with a lot of power behind them. The book spans many place settings, yet the characters remain true to themselves amidst all of the changes- growing in a way that keeps you as the reader rooting for them the entire way through.
The fate of the world may truly be at stake, but it's the fate of David and Zachary that bring the overwhelming wideness of this story to an understandable head. Because the vastness of the 'revelation period' in this tale is based on the story of just two people it's easy to grasp. That doesn't mean it isn't still as powerful and awe-inspiring as you'd expect- I'm just trying to say it's not overwhelming and hard to follow. Although many fictional tales have been based on the apocolyptic idea of the Bible's "Revelations", this one has definitely been one of my favorite tales to read. It's a deeply moving tale of family bonds and the unification and determination of a father and son amidst all odds.
As a non-Christian I went into this book for the story sense, but I think people who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ could also benefit from this book. There is obviously a faith-based undertone that could be read into strongly if you wanted to take that route. Whether you are a follower of the Bible or not though, will not determine whether or not you can enjoy this story. Athiests and Christians alike could appreciate the suspense, action, and thought-provoking storyline of this book. David and Zachary have captured my attention and I am determined to read the rest of their story. I look forward to delving into the second book in this series, and for the time being highly recommend people delve into this one themselves.
