Historical novel in 16 chapters, spanning almost 5 years, in two parts, 10 chapters from New Year's Day 1959 to August 1961 in Cuba, and how the seizure of power by Castro affected the lives of average people, and 6 from August 1961 to Halloween 1963 in the U.S., and the trials of migration. It is the account of different events experienced by any average non-political Cuban citizen in her struggle during the first 4 years of the communist regime in Cuba and exile in the U.S., compiled into a fictional character, written in the form of a historical journal within a framework of everyday life and told in a very dispassionate way. One senses the need the author felt to write this story.
The first part presents an average 21-year-old girl, the shared love within the restricted circle, the selfishness, the veiled prejudice, the faults, the ignorance, the indifference and the indolence, against the backdrop of political disintegration. The second part takes her and her family through the severing of the love ties, the discrimination met. It describes the Miami of the early 60's.
