A young zookeeper and single mom falls in love just as mysterious things start happening at the zoo, including animal killings and murder.
After surviving a wicked divorce and ending up alone with a baby, Josie Simons had sworn off men. Her so-called life consisted of cleaning up after animals at the city zoo and cleaning up after her toddler at home. Maybe it was the utter boredom that made her let her best friend and coworker talk her into a blind date with handsome single father Cam Bosworth. Before she knew it, she was caught up in a relationship that was both exhilarating and frightening. Cam was everything she needed for her daughter and herself. But lately weird things had started happening at the zoo, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that she, or worse, her daughter, might be in danger. Moreover, Cam’s concern seemed more suspicious than comforting. Events at the zoo escalate as Josie’s life becomes more complicated and dangerous than she could ever have imagined.

The three keepers grabbed Zelda's legs, pulled her away from the wall, and then carefully rolled her over to her other side. There was no evidence of injury on that side, either. They all looked at Jeff, waiting on his opinion, or his next instructions.

I have recently finished reading 'Night Keeper' and I was a little skeptical at first, thinking it was going to be some sappy romance novel. As soon as you start reading, you get more and more curious and say to yourself, "Okay, one more chapter". Its very addicting. It's not only a romance, it's suspenseful and the characters involved really grab you and tug at your heart strings. I would ultimately label it as a horror/romance novel though and I wouldnt suggest reading it in the dark on a stormy night. Or right before you go to a Zoo. ;) I really enjoyed reading this and i hope she writes more in the future.

I spent this weekend reading the Night Keeper by April Nunn Coker. The idea of someone killing animals at the zoo gives a new twist to mystery. Someone is reeking havoc on the zoo and the night shift seems to be the most affected. Whoever it is, is brutal in the way they are killing the animals. To make things more complicated, each of the night shift employees has problems in their own personal lives, making work and life more complicated. The book was interesting enough that I stayed up most of last night finishing it, even though I already knew 'who dun' it' by then. I would read other books by this author. She gets two thumbs up for coming up with a new setting for a mystery.
