My mother served her country as a nurse in the United States Air Force. She and I shared the joy of writing poetry and had just started to talk about creating a book of her poems, shortly before she passed. She started writing books as a teenager and loved to write about family and things she found important in life. Included were short jingles about people she knew, using their names, to put a smile on their face. Some of these are included here. A few of he poems were published in "Great Poems of the Western World" and "Famous Poets of the Heartland", and several have won awards. It is my honor to have her work published as a tribute and see "our" dream finally come true.

My Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
He owns the mountains, the rocks, and the rills.
I’ve been adopted, I’m a child of the king,
that makes me an heir to everything,
for my Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills…
My Father owns all the gold in the world.
He owns all the silver, the rubies, and pearls.
I’m a very rich child, with a heavenly home,
close to my father, who sits on His throne.
My Father owns all the gold in the world…
My Father owns everything, He made it all,
from the smallest bug, to the mountains so tall.
I can walk down streets paved with pure gold,
partake of His riches, God’s word foretold.
