I love to write sexy romantic suspense stories, filled with mystery and intrigue and lots of steamy romance on the side.
When Australian artist, Rachel Day, receives an all expenses paid trip to Vancouver, British Columbia from a mysterious benefactor, it soon turns out to be anything but free, when someone pushes her in front of CEO millionaire, Sebastian's Knight's car.
Once Rachel tells the police that she was deliberately pushed in front of Sebastian's car, her case becomes the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
While staying as a guest in Sebastian's penthouse, during her convalescence, she receives a mysterious note, threatening her safety. Sebastian flies her to his lake house for a couple of days, to keep her safe, until the threat can be investigated.
In the beautiful setting by the lake in Kelowna, their relationship quickly turns into a hot passionate romance. Rachel is surprised to find herself, falling for the highly intimidating and sensually charismatic Mr Knight.
Unfortunately, not all goes well in cupid's paradise. When Sebastian's overbearing obsession with her safety, threatens her newfound independence, she realises what a terrible mistake she's made, in allowing herself to fall for his charms.
But, will running from the secret shadowing both their pasts, prove to be her ultimate mistake?

Great Reading
It was super intriguing from the first line to the end. It was a mixed of maid in Manhattan with a twist of romanticism and of course novel style fifty shades of grey. I love the way the writer gave us insight and background of each character. You can read and know the view points from both characters perspective. The childhood experience flashbacks give you a "why" the main characters are the way they are. Also, this book touches the struggles a widow goes through which I am sure many can identify with. There is more of course but I won't spoil it for you. When I received a free copy to read and give my review. I didn’t know what to expect because of the book cover but as I progress in the reading I understood more the book cover.
Good Read
This is the first book in the series, Dark Shadows, that combines romance with a suspense-laden mystery, to make things interesting.
The story begins on the last day of Rachel's week long vacation in Vancouver BC. She spends the morning bike riding around the city's park, which includes a very funny scene where she falls off her bike. While taking a break, she reflects on the reasons that brought her on a trip to Vancouver BC, all the way from Australia.
Rachel is not your typical arty type, she's easy to relate to and a whole lot of fun to read. Her first overseas trip is shaping up to be a great adventure, until she is deliberately pushed in front of the car belonging to the tall dark and handsome Sebastian Knight.
I like Rachel's feisty character and how she stands up for herself, from her first encounter in the hospital, with Sebastian. Though secretly, she suspects she has met her match with the likes of him, a charming and charismatic man, who definitely knows how to take stubborness to a whole new level, when he promises to keep her safe, from whoever is threatening to harm her.
The attraction between the couple is clear, right from the start, and it's not just your typical, physical connection, but something deeper and more mysterious. You also get the impression, that the vicious attack on Rachel, when she was pushed in front of Sebastian's car, may have played a secret, more sinister role, than first realised.
The plot thickens when Rachel is still recuperating from her accident, and receives a threatening letter. While the police investigate the new threat, Sebastian takes her away to his beautiful house on the lake, to keep her safe. This is where their relationship turns into a hot sizzling romance and Rachel finds herself falling thick and hard for Sebastian.
Unfortunately, their brief love affair is brought to an abrupt end, when they can't resolve their differences after an argument over her safety. Just when the story starts to get really interesting, it ends on a cliffhanger. So, we don't get to find out the identity of the mysterious benefactor, who paid for her trip, or why someone is threatening to hurt her. I can't wait to read the next two books to find out.
