The thunderstorm acknowledges that he sounds ill-tempered because it takes such a powerful display to do all the things he must. He is never welcomed and his intent is always misunderstood. The wind. The thunder. The flashes of light. All of these seem scary. He reassures the child that he uses these displays for very good reasons thus beginning a journey of understanding that takes the storm from foe to friend.

My two children, ages 5 and 6, loved this book! They begged for repeated readings. When we turned to page 3 again, Ally was making a big, nasty RRROOOAARRR!!! Emily liked the way the flash of light warned the bunny of the danger of the huge hole directly ahead. Keesee effectively shows thunderstorms are natural and help us and our earth.

The Angry Thunderstorm is a book that will lead a child towards understanding a part of nature. A great way to dispell fears about thunderstorms. Writing in the poem format is especially suited for this book. A novel idea for a childrens book. I hope this author continues with this idea and produces more books about nature's happenings.
