While many books focus on developing managerial competencies, most leadership failures are the result of a failure in character, not a failure in competence. But, just like how you don’t get in shape by reading a fitness magazine, you don’t become a Leader of Character by reading a book on Character. You have to DO what you want to BE! Leaders of Character is a “workout plan” designed to develop six Habits of Character by providing small, daily exercises that strengthen your character muscles for the bigger character tests all leaders face.

The Andersons' are Reclaiming 'Character' for Today's Leaders
In a sea of books on leadership, General Anderson and his son Dave have risen the top. They have ransomed 'Character' from dungeons of efficiency and productivity and have restored it to it's rightful place. Leaders of Character aren't familiar with the easy roads. Dave and the General haven't spent much time on them.
The clear principles expounded amidst the wealth of experience make this book one of the very best books on leadership. General Anderson is honest, witty, brilliant and has some amazing stories to tell. Dave has done a superb job drawing out and drawing upon two lifetimes of experience from the battlefield, war rooms, academic hallways, corporate environments, and breakfast tables. There is no setting in which 'Character' is not examined and applied.
May the Anderson Leadership tribe increase!
A Counter-Intuitive Approach that Works
Offers an interesting, counter-intuitive idea -- that if you manage in a caring, principled manner, without worrying about money or how to force people to do things, you'll ultimately make more money and get people to bend over backwards for you. Good writing -- easy "small bite" lessons that each contain lots of wisdom.
Character Does Count
Very inspirational and thought-provoking. This is a must read for anyone who not only wants to be a better manager and leader, but also for anyone who simply wants to be a better employee in person. Not only do the others tell you what you need to know with regard to the value of character, they provide you the exercises to actually practice and develop. "You don't train to run a marathon by only talking about running." This is a great asset to any leadership library.
