On a starlit evening in late June, when the Moon and stars shone brilliantly in the night sky, Savannah decided to pay a visit to the homestead. She and Ratiffa sauntered into the forest to their favourite spot by where the brook trickled downstream, the stones dark and smooth from the cascading, rippling water. The pleasant little tributary was trimmed with heather, wildflowers and ferns and they found a patch of soft grass to sit.
“Let’s get back to your Moon and Stars and your faith,” Ratiffa suggested. “It was written just a short time ago in the book of Job ‘God is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the South’. “Did it occur to you that the constellations have been around since the beginning of Creation?
“ The same Moon and Stars that you gaze up to in the night sky are those exact same constellations as the ancients looked upon. And so in the same way they prayed to the same God.
“The God who spoke to Job is the God you speak to. The Angels who spoke to Muhammad, to Mary, to Zechariah and Elizabeth are the same Angels that speak to your heart and that you speak to. This is the constant of the Universe no matter how many days turn into nights and how many millions of years pass by.”
Ratiffa pointed to the skies.
“A hundred billion galaxies, each one with an equivalent number of stars, and many of those stars, quite justifiably are supporting populated planets. We would be remiss to imagine or suppose that in this vast Galaxy we are the only thriving planet. Yes, no wonder your brain feels like it may explode from information overload my dear. It is both exhilarating and shockingly overwhelming all at the same time. Yes, it is beyond our human comprehension. That is why it is better to wait for the glory.
“The position of the Moon and Stars most certainly affects our physiological selves. ‘La Bella Luna’ is a powerful planetary source. She keeps the Earth’s oceans and tides moving and this cleans the planet and the ocean floors.
“Mercury does some interesting things and can affect so much of our constitution. It pulls and pushes us in a polarized dance and we really feel its energy when it is in Retrograde which happens three times a year, lasting for twenty one days each time. The alignments of the other planets also play with our energy and emotions. If we pay attention we will see their correlation.
“The influence is undeniable. It is such a huge part of our Universe. Each planet in the solar system has a job to do, working miraculously as a planetary team. To deny the moving, living breathing Universe and solar systems is to deny self because it is all inter-connected. The ebb and flow of the life cycle is part of our World.
“Birth, Living, death, rebirth. It’s a beautiful dance.
“There is no fear in the life cycle.
It is pure Magic.
We need to celebrate and rejoice in every moment and in every stage of our life from the beginning to the end.”
“What does that mean — rejoice?” Savannah asked.
“It shall all be revealed to you one day dear one when the time is right. We don’t want your head to pop now do we?
“You see, dear heart, you don’t have to choose one or the other for they all bring hopes, dreams and images from the other side.

In the Light of the Full Cold Moon by Susan Elizabeth Girard is a story of spiritual exploration and healing.
In this novel, Girard’s protagonist Savannah goes into meditative “vision states” or astral travels into another dimension of the rainforest where she meets and learns from a wise shaman, a Muslim, Chief Dan George, Jesus, a messianic Jew, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Taoist, Archangels and other guides. She learns the importance of preserving nature and Mother Earth and keeping spirituality alive.
The book is full of a wide range of historical religious doctrine, philosophical musings, and an unflagging sense of joy in winding one’s way through both the Sacred Coastal Rainforest and the sacred within us all.
An important realization that is shared is that religions don’t matter; in fact, most have similar truths at their core. “Goodness comes in many forms,” says one of Savannah’s mentors in the forest.

I really enjoyed the journey of this book, I have to say you should read this with an open mind to life and spirituality. I have both and think the author must have an incredible open mindedness and a loving soul. Readers meet Savannah, a woman who is having a hard time just making it through the days of her life. We all have felt the way the woman does I think.Using a bit of meditation mixed with a bit of supernatural mixed in, Savannah takes a journey. Ratiffa is Savannah's main guide, but she is aided in her journey by people by all walks and faiths in order to know only help herself, but to find a way to help others and earth itself. The author has done an amazing job combing spiritual teachings with a novel of hope, struggle and enlightenment. Whether you believe in the spiritual side of things or not I still think this book will touch your heart and make you think about how we all act toward our fellow human beings and the earth we all share.

What an amazing and interesting read. The characters were interesting and I was invested in their journey. It was a beautiful story of growth and learning. To see the wise Ratiffa teaching Savannah contentment and spiritual awakening opened my own mind to her lessons.
This was a sweet spiritual awakening. Wonderfully written and very lovely to envision the woods with the enchanted cabin.
