Although none may relish this place of solitude, if you find yourself at Rock Bottom and are wondering What Do I Do Now? … keep in mind that the shores of time are riddled with those who gave up not realizing that their Turning Point was only inches away.
Then there were those who made it to shore, but they too made the mistake of trying to Take Giant Steps, when Baby Steps Will Do.
Still others grew weary after the long battles and eventually quit. I say this to any of you who also have thoughts of quitting, Never, Ever Give Up! That “Mountain” Will Move!
And when you get to the other side, Never Forget the Bridges That You “Crossed”. One day you may need them while Navigating Through the Storms of life.
Yet, more than anything else, I am so thankful that You [Lord] Never gave up on Me! Through it all, as the song says, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.

Chapter One
Times of Desperation
—Your Child or Spouse Dies
—Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis
—AIDS
—Creditors Calling
—Can’t Pay your Bills
—Sued in Court
—Bankruptcy
—No Flood Insurance
—Evicted by Landlord
—Swindled out of your Retirement Savings
—Fired from your Job
—Identity Theft
“Another Death”, “Another Bankruptcy”, “Another Mass Shooting”, “Another Terrorist Attack”, “Another Child Abducted”, “Another Young Man Snatched by Drugs and Gangs”, and “Another Prominent Leader falls to Corruption”; sadly, far too often, these headlines are a familiar part of our daily lives.
Anytime you hear of these acts of evil, it tears your heart out. However, it’s much more weighty and personal when you are the one confronted with one or more of these atrocities.
From the outset of the conflict, you knew that this would be the mother of all battles. The hurt and loss alone can drive a person insane; yet you were determined to beat this thing. You knew your life would never be the same, but this would be your new beginning ... your chance to start over.
However, that was years ago, and since then the situation has escalated a thousand fold. Now you can only bow your head in shame as you remember that on more than one occasion you have considered giving up ... after all, who cares?
The irony of the situation is that the person in the mirror is the one who led family, friends, work associates, schools and even churches to safety and solitude in the midst of these same situations – what a tragic turn of events!
What changed? What brought about this fear, this worry, these times of desperation? In a word, life – life in spite of its beauty and wonderment is also filled with pain – and none, regardless of their pedigree or socioeconomic status, are exempt.
