My journey is also fraught with sad moments that have led to the development of my success in dealing with patients during his 35 years of practice.

I have had the distinct pleasure of treating over 100,000 patients and dealt with many of their secret thoughts and private lives as well as their orthopedic conditions, but they only knew me as the man in the white coat, in scrubs or behind a mask.
This is not an autobiography but a journey you will take by my side through medical school, internship and residency training, my Navy experience, and private practice through re-retirement. I will introduce you to the difficult years of medical school and the grueling schedules of my training.There will be many humorous stories, some disconcerting events, and some sad and humbling experiences that affected my life and the way I chose to care for my patients. Throughout, I also relate my thoughts about the unfortunate changes in orthopedics as well as medicine over the decades.

Really enjoyed this book. You never really know the background stories of the doctors you see. This man’s journey to becoming a doctor shows the struggles, long hours, and hard work that goes into becoming one of the best. But it is not a dry rendition of his life. It is filled with hysterical stories and learning experiences. It shows the careful balance between work life and family life. It also shows the joy of doing something you love while caring for people in a way that goes beyond medicine and science. You can see how this doctor loved the science of his work and using his hand and his problem-solving skills but more importantly you can see how his desire to help and heal others was the most rewarding thing of his lifelong profession. Something that is truly missing in today’s treatment of illness…the ability to listen and have love for the patient. What a great example for future doctors!! Highly recommend this book.

This autobiographical spin through the career of a caring and very talented Orthopedic Surgeon/author was a great read.
The lighthearted recounting of a feisty 89 year old patient. A quick dive into military service that had some "MASH" moments. A busy doctor's desire to have a son and his response to his wife after their daughter was born - "I'll love her anyway."
From his frustrating encounters with D.C. traffic, ALPSA (look it up) and his mantra "keeping up the pace" you can enjoy his ride. This bio sprinkles in what not to do and "Life's lessons through the eyes of a "Bone Doctor". Enjoy these and other happenings.

the book is a no holds barred account of an MD student on his career path journey, it has it all. Grit, determination, perseverance , humor, disappointment, personal sacrifice, acts of kindness and most of all achieving humanity rewarding satisfaction by helping patients who were in painful distress. It relates a story of a dedicated surgeon demonstrating rare abilities to develop surgical techniques praised by his peers while being able to pass on his gifts to the next generation
This book has been eight years in the making. It is mostly a jumble of thoughts written down in old spiral notebooks and hidden in the bottom drawer underneath various manuals for software packages and hardware long since turned obsolete.
