CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Don’t wait indefinitely for open doors to come, create one yourself or you may die of old age waiting. Have you watched someone so full of potentials and discover something you felt he or she would have been in life and you find out later he or she did not? A successful footballer? A prolific writer, a potential creative actor, an accomplished academia or scholar, a moving powerful singer or a great leader? It might not be the fault of circumstances beyond his control nor circumstances under his control but his. The “circum-stances” existed at his instance. It is either you describe and circumvent them or they will circumscribe and short-circuit you. A problem can either make you or mar you depend on how you look at it. Never die with this enormous power deposit unutilized. Do something now. Don’t wait anymore if you have waited on the Lord or you will be a tragic tragedy. Have seen taps built that never ran for once? What trees that never gave fruits? What Layers that never laid eggs? What doctor that never doctored a patient nor teacher that never taught or best president that never presided. Waterless wells. Wells without water! WITH GOD YOU CAN TURN YOUR Impeaching importunities into optimal opportunities. Frightful frustration into fortifying fortunes. SELF-DISCOVERY: Self-discovery is learning about self – the process of learning about your true personality and motives (Encarta Dictionaries).It is finding out who you are really as God ordained you to be. Self-details, potentials, abilities and inabilities. What you can give out and what you can take in to affect the world around you. Knowing and understanding YOURSELF is a function or key factor to your success in life. Dissect your inner man, your makeup, your weaknesses and strengths, your abilities and inabilities, emotions and psychological strengths. What is inside you that make you unique and the impinging environmental surroundings. Understanding the intricacies and complexities, intrinsic and extrinsic values of your being. Then apply wisdom to defeat and play down your weaknesses and consolidate controls and uphold your strengths for profitable productivity. The level of your development or success is determined by the level of yourself you know. The quality of yourself you express is determined by the quality of yourself you harness. Discovery and rediscovery of your total self is a pointer to great success. Who are you? Not the identification label called “Names” that you bear but “the you in you that makes you the you, you are”. The seed God deposited in you that will germinate and you husband it to success. Who are you? Not the academic laurels that stand you out nor the lack of it that identify you at the bottom. Who are you? Not the position, high or low you occupy on your quest for success. Who are you? Not the status you bear as a responsibility. A father, mother or brother? Mr. Johnson (Son of John)? These are only roles that life circumstances placed on you. Who are you? Not the transient temporary inability that mark you out. A cripple, blind or orphan? A poor, less privileged, sickler or disabled? These are just limitations your real self will and can overcome. Who disabled you? You are not disabled for it is only God who can enable or disable. Inability is not disability. Reset yourself to your God-given default value. INABILITY IS NOT DISABILITY. That is where to start. Self-identity is about content not the container that carry the identity. It is about quality contextual value and not a solo island. It is about conception and not just a birth process. Do not define yourself by what you do. A Manager? No, you are not a manager but you work as a manager. A maid? No, you are not a maid but you work as a maid. An accountant? No but you only work now as an accountant. You may have spent your whole life studying to identify yourself. Don’t accept labels the society, circumstances, inabilities, status, situations or position place on you as your true identity. God deposited in you a seed, a future, and a generation. Discover yourself. Only imitators, pretenders, carbon copies compete for relevance, access and acceptability. When you are your God-given self and stuff there will be no superiority or inferiority complex. God created you the default and there is no duplication of who you are. Remove your mask now. Stop pretending or impersonating others and show your real identity. There are pretenders among us. Don’t try to be like another. Someone said, “We were created equally but differently. We complement each other”. Discover Gods deposit in you – the gem, diamond, gold or the treasure island. Working from this starter will remove struggle, contention or competition. Only imitators, pretenders, carbon copies compete for relevance, access and acceptability. When you are your God-given self and stuff there will be no superiority or inferiority complex. God has customized you for a role no other can play because He created you original and unique. In self-discovery we deal with the concept, the context and content of your life. Do not define yourself by what you do. A manager? No, you are not a manager but you work as a manager. A maid? No, you are not a maid but you work as a maid. An accountant? No but you only work now as an accountant THE CONCEPT (inside you - God given): Here is the inside view. Something thought up, formed in the womb, the origin. The original raw deposit and seed It deals with only you. God
created, formed, or customized you to a default. The self-concept or self-identity you make of this determines how you fare. Concept is idea, impression, theory, hypothesis, view, belief, and seed in your heart. It is a prototype of a product yet to be released that you were ordained to manifest and project. So discover the “you in you” that makes you unique. For the earth, the people, the multinationals, the industries, the churches, groans and waits for the manifestation (showing forth) of the Sons of God (Rom. 8:19). THE CONTEXT (outside you-your surroundings): Your potentials need a contextual setting to operate in – a background, circumstance, situation, framework, milieu (formal) environment, a perspective. Your identity must be related to the environment to succeed. You need others or partnership to survive. Offer yourself to others to access your work and evaluate your identity. Your identity’s interaction with the right environment processes it to a finished product. Your psyche and emotional know-how (internal) need a technical know-how (external). Your contextual ability is in relation to others, your environment and working tools. You cannot work as a solo Island. The contextual setting brings the inner ideas and concept to bear and embedded into a larger expression. Contextualize. Who disabled you? You are not disabled for it is only God who can enable or disable. Inability is not disability. Reset yourself to your God-given default THE CONTENT (inside and outside-acquired and experienced - your worth and what you want to offer): Content is defined as amount of something in a container, the subject matter (question, discussion, and topics), meaning or message, available information, materials, capacity of a container. Your identity or potentials need to develop relevance, get education, possess content, technical improvement to be relevant to time and the present context. The anointing of yesterday will not do for the work of today. Your identity must develop expression, be fitting and suitable. It must be adaptable and adoptive to the recipients and present receptacles that will need and contain or carry it, i.e. it must be marketable in order to be relevant. To be marketable it must have a worth, a value, cost effectiveness and quantifiable. Self-discovery involves identifying and implementing these active ingredients (Concept, Context and Content) in your way to success and exploring, exploiting and developing and harnesses them to productivity and profitability. Awaken the sleeping giant in you. Prove the potential leader locked up inside you. Germinate the viable potential seed and grow the seedling in you. Manifest the genius in you. Extract the juicy nectar in you. Sweeten the honey deposit you were born with. Grow the life inside you. Regenerate and maximize your potentials. Keep searching, browsing, probing, questioning your total life and make it relevant to all around you. Keep looking upwards to God (heaven thrust). Keep looking inside you (Inward thrust) and keep looking outward (environmental thrust).Don’t ever stop no matter the pains. Keep moving, and discovering yourself. “If you can’t fly, run. CONCEPT OF DISCOVERING YOUR GOD-GIVEN POTENTIAL .DISCOVERING (Not discover or discovery) mean simply “to find out”. Discovering is a continuous process – a continuum. It starts the day you were born and will end the day your body will lie low in the grave. Inside each discovering and recovering is another potential to explore for something new, higher and better.
YOURSELF: This is the you in you that makes you the you, you are or the me in myself that makes me the me I am. The image (Gr. representation and manifestation) of God. A copy of God reflecting some of His own perfections. God is perfect in knowledge, righteousness, holiness and with dominion over the creatures (Gen 1:26.) You are created to fulfill a purpose .You are born with a promise. You are a child of promise. GOD GIVEN POTENTIALS: Potentials are possibilities capabilities, resources of somebody or something that are innate or undeveloped. They are enormous power deposit within. There are truths about your life and future that need to be dug out. They are treasures hidden, out of sight that must be discovered, explored and exploited. God at creation and birth deposited in you abilities that need to be capabilities, potential that need to be bring prosperity, qualities that need to be qualified and quantified, resources that need to create wealth, talents that need to transform and triumph, challenges that need to create champions, treasures that need to be transferred, hidden thoughts that will be truths, ideas that will idealize to great ideals, feelings waiting to be felt outside, imaginations/images waiting to be masters; pictures/visions that need to inform and transform; proposals waiting to propel you to greatness, deposits that need to multiply with interest and raw statement that need to be mission statements. Your identity or potentials need to develop relevance, get education, possess content, technical improvement to be relevant to time and the present context. The anointing of yesterday will not do for the work of today. There are potentials in business, education, Ministry, ideas, talents and even the environment. They are like diamonds in the soil. Dig them out. Discover who you are. Discover yourself. WHO ARE YOU? You must find out. Potentials are untapped resources - talents, open doors, people, places, and possibilities undiscovered, unutilized, unexplored and unexploited. They are your success starter; power source or destiny feeders. Potentials are your embryo/fetus today for your tomorrow’s adult. They are Gods pattern. POTENTIAL EXCITERS: Stir up the gift of God in you…. 2 Tim 1:6 These are some things inside you that stir you up. Agitators or feelers inside that seem to say, “I have an idea”, “I can do this” etc. They can guide you to who you are. They are like a small generator or transmitter that provides the necessary energy to run a larger device or task. Call it activation energy. Someone during television interview said while he was small and playing football something inside excited him that he can do well playing football a as professional or as a life career and he decided to concentrate on football playing. Today he is a celebrated footballer worldwide. He became the national team captain and a professional team captain and felt fulfilled in life. God- given potentials. What tickles you inside? POTENTIAL PARTICLES: This is what I call the seed of life, the small small bits or components or the integral part of a whole. God put such little things into your life to lead you to the whole. From incomplete to complete, from known to unknown. God-given ideas, thoughts, impression on your heart, imaginations, pictures and even regrets that can transform to something positive, from remorse unto repentance and even non-sense to sense. We can make
sense out of non-sense. What do you do with those little little checks, inspirations, prompts, inner deeper feelings and dreams the Holy Spirit gives you from time to time about circumstances and situation in life’s processes. Don’t let that idea die in you for it might be the push you need to go forward, the ladder you need to get to the top or create enablement to fulfill your dreams. Everybody has a top that will celebrate and fulfill him or her and a bottom rung that is waiting to drown and kill his or her destiny. You have a choice. POTENTIAL RECEIVERS/TENTACLES: Receivers receive signals like radio receiver; audio or video signal receivers potentials may have tentacles or receivers waiting to get connected. Receivers transform signals from one form to the other. These tentacles connect your potentials to their proof- producers, their God-sent David, their activators and lubricants. Every Joshua need a Moses. Every Elisha needs an Elijah and Every disciple and Apostle need the Master Jesus to see God. Every Zacchaeus need to climb a tree to see the Savior. Every Moses need to go up thither in other to perform successfully hither. Awaken the giant in you. Prove the leader locked up inside you. Germinate the viable potential seed in you. Generate the genius you are. Extract the juicy nectar flowing inside you. Sweeten the honey deposit you were born with. Grow the life inside you. Manifest and maximize your potentials.
