A chilling ghost story and a psychological thriller.
The Daughter's Friend
Just because you can't see someone, just because you can't hear someone. Does it really mean they're not there. Does it really mean they're not talking. Maybe you're just not looking. Maybe you're just not listening.
Jade and Alex have an unexpected visitor. A visitor that they didn't invite. A visitor that will turn their lives upside down. A dark and dangerous visitor that will make them question everything that they believe.
Sometimes it's hard to tell the truth from a lie. Sometimes it's hard to know who to trust. But how can you trust others, when you can't trust yourself?
VATAVIA, A chilling ghost story, a psychological thriller with a hint of the supernatural, that will keep you guessing until the end.
Excerpt
"Stop the car!" Melanie shouted from her seat in the back.
Alex slammed his foot on the brake in an automatic response to his daughter's screams from the back of the car. Greeted by angry horns from the cars around him he brought the car into the verge, somewhere slightly safer than the middle of the highway to stop.
Jade's coffee now in her lap, she was torn between attending to her burnt thighs and attending to her daughter who was wailing about Petey Poo that was now apparently not in the car thanks to her brother David. Petey Poo the little dwarf dragon toy that goes with her everywhere, although at seven, Alex thinks that she's a bit too old for this nonsense, Petey Poo is now running free along the highway with a little bit of help from twelve year old David.
"Help him, save Petey Poo!" she's screaming from the back of the car.
"I'm going baby, shush, I'm going." Jade is out of the door and dashing between the cars and the angry drivers who are trying their hardest not to turn her into road kill. Then ran back to the car with what was left of Petey Poo. The wind took the door out of her hands and slammed it shut. It had locked, she couldn't get in.
"Come on guys this isn't funny, let me in!"
Alex reached over and opened the door. "Jade stop messing about, get in the car."
"Sorry baby, we can fix him when we get home."
She handed over what was left of Petey Poo to her daughter who hadn't stopped crying yet, while her brother David remained silent.
"No mommy, you can't fix him"
"I can, I fix everything Melly, Petey Poo will be fine."
"No, Vatavia says we have to bury him now."
"Who's Vatavia, is that a friend from school?"
Melanie looked at her mother as if she was talking to her in a strange language.
"Mommy, you know who Vatavia is, you let her in the car. She's sitting right here next to me!"
