Davy Williams doesn’t know it, but he is the best dreamer on Earth. Masterfully combining material from real life and vivid imagination, his nocturnal other-world realm fills his nights with impossible oddities, breathtaking unnatural wonders, vast vistas and perilous adventures. Nine-year-old Davy faces each bedtime with emotions as varied as the scenarios he surrenders to: dreams orchestrating a head-on collision of beauty and terror, serenity and wild action.

From the beginning, Davy’s true contentment is found at the beloved family farm, a plot of land in the lovely countryside of northwest Ohio. A place and time so cherished, Davy wished it would last forever. There, he and his two brothers spend their summers helping with the workload, happily immersed in the simplicity of the 1950’s and 60’s.
As life goes on, Davy’s dreams not only increasingly trouble his real word, but compete against it for dominance. He becomes distracted from school, jobs and the caring relationship he shares with life-long sweetheart, Peggy Brennan. Even the bizarre and traumatic ten weeks of Vietnam era Marine Corps Boot Camp are twisted and embellished by Davy’s jealous Dream Maker.
Years later, Davy’s love of a growing family pushes his dreamworld aside, as well as his huge archive of beautifully illustrated records of it. Torn between the responsibilities of real life and a haunting need to lose himself in his dreams, Davy ventures to create a device that records them in all their visual splendor. To his shock, the device does much more than he intended, confronting him with dangers and experiences unique to human experience itself.
Will Davy become enslaved by his own invention? Will this brilliant cyber explorer be forever a victim of the device brought about by his own creative genius?

Reviews for "To Dream"

Reviewed by Ronald Hull 10/15/2019
Your approach certainly brings some intriguing prospects. I get most of my short stories from wide-ranging dreams. It seemed obvious from the description that you are writing your own experience. I have recently been posting Tales of my childhood, predominantly in the 1950s in north-central Wisconsin. I also had a cousin from Wisconsin to settled for a while just south of Toledo with the Miami River in his backyard in the 1960s.

Other than the description, there is no excerpt to get a feel for your writing. While I'm commenting on your book here, don't expect me to read it. I'm currently way behind in my reading and too busy writing to read a lot.
