Finding Hope is a romance book about Jade and Leslie who fall in love with each other after they meet at Jade’s parents’ resort. From the moment Jade and Leslie meet they have to overcome problems that seem to keep coming their way. Leslie’s parents try to keep Jade and Leslie apart, which almost prevents them from forming a relationship. However, it doesn’t work because they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Excerpt
Once we make it home, we quickly go inside. We find my parents in the living room, reading. They both look up at us with concern.
“What’s wrong?” My father asks as he sits his book down on the coffee table.
“They know about the investigation. We need to get out of here,” I say as I begin to remove the wire that was placed on me by the detectives.
“How?”
“I don’t know, but we need to get out of here,” I say as I notice someone walk in behind my father.
“Nobody is going anywhere. Unless I say you can,” Mr. Harris says as he points a gun at us.
“Why are you doing this?” My father asks confused.
“It’s a long story,” he says as he walks closer to us with a devilish smile on his face.
“If I’m going to be killed, I want to know why,” my father says demandingly.
“If you insist, then, why not,” he says as he looks my father in the eyes.
“I do.”
“I used to work for Mr. Compton. He hired me to do investigations for him,” he says as he sits in a chair.
“My father asked you to come here?” Jade asks confused.
“No. The thing is, I never liked your father. I did the investigations for him because I wanted to see what he was doing. I wanted access to everything he had, so I could use it as blackmail. However, after I got into the company’s bank account, I sent a lot of money to an offshore account. I was going to turn it in, but he vanished. At first, I thought he actually died in the car wreck, but after Dale here, brought some details to my attention. I investigated to find that he didn’t, which is why I’ve continued to work for him. He paid for me to finish what I started. Now, you all know too much information, so it’s time to meet your maker,” he says as he points the gun at my father.
“The thing is, you’re not going to do anything,” my father says as he looks at Mr. Harris with a smile.
Right after my father quits speaking, someone walks in from the back of the house with a gun. He points it at Mr. Harris.
“Drop the gun,” the man says as he puts the gun up against his head.
Mr. Harris quickly puts the gun down before he turns around to punch at the man. The man quickly reacts and blocks the punch before he pushes Mr. Harris down to the floor. Once he has him to the floor, he quickly puts handcuffs on him.
“You’re under arrest. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law,” the man says as he pulls Mr. Harris up by his arm.
“How did you know?” Mr. Harris asks in shock.
“Now, that’s a true long story,” my father says as the policeman leads Mr. Harris out of the house.
