Rome could feel his stomach jumping around as the plane touched down at La Guardia airport in New York City. He was once again forced to travel by plane when he was totally capable of flying himself. On second thought, however, he had yet to enjoy a flight across the Atlantic Ocean, so perhaps it was best to travel in one of mankind’s silliest inventions.
Rome laughed to himself at the idea of humans being able to fly. It was a humorous concept, but also a rampant dream of the earthbound humans. Rome could see the wonder in Julian’s eyes when they flew together, and he knew that it was something humans would desire for as long as they existed on this planet. He also realized that if the boys didn’t get answers soon, that fragile existence might not be for much longer. The boys felt it in their bones; the war was coming.
Julian, true to character, had been in Rome’s ear the entire flight blabbing on about his Talisman, and how cool it was to slay a Nocturn. He talked ad nauseum about the durability of his armor and the abilities of his weaponry. Julian was Rome’s newly sworn brother-at-arms and the Synergist knight charged with completing Rome’s unfinished, dragon heart. Besides being an admirable warrior in his “knight mode”, he was also blunt, verbose, and kind of crude. Rome had grown to ignore, but also cherish this part of Julian’s personality. He was annoyingly endearing.
