Afterlife Is Not What You Imagined
George Pringate led a life practically devoid of living. The story picks up right after his death and follows him as he is forced do something to get to heaven or he’ll be in hell. This is not the afterlife that is part of our cultural upbringing. The differences will keep you intrigued as we get painted a vivid picture of who George was.
Although the locale is the Los Angeles area, it could be anywhere. The locale and the movie references are fitting props for the story.
I enjoyed the story and kept rooting for George even when he was his own worse enemy.
Enjoy the book! I did.
You will laugh yourelf silly!
George is in big trouble. He doesn’t qualify for heaven. He has some work to do, and that’s hard for a person who is so depressed.
This book is so much fun! I love the way Stewart writes. He has a wonderful knack for humor and I love humor.
His scene-setting fits just right. The dialogue makes me laugh so much and the plotting is perfect.
George has to accomplish much to prove himself worthy of entrance to heaven, including not being destroyed by an assassin from the underworld.
The action is good also, the pace and flow are worthwhile. This book is easy to read.
George thought life was hard, he is learning it’s even harder being dead.
I award “George Pringate’s Last Hurrah” 5 stars! You will laugh yourself silly!
Creative author makes a tough subject engaging and entertaining
Maybe because I am a middle-aged person myself, I connected with the author's perspective in this entertaining novel. Stewart Hoffman deals with tough issues of death, depression, heart-ache through humor (at times laugh-out-loud) and engaging characters. We all know a George Pringate. The enjoyable story was a fast read for me, and I read most of it on one long plane trip. I highly recommend this book as a vacation read or commuter read, since it is fairly short as novels go. Five stars for the author's creative writing and clever story.
