a little slice of heaven—

their horses pushing their way
through clouds and fog—
through blood and tears—

just to exalt the ghost riders

ghost riders in the sky and other lines by Laughton J. Collins, Jr.
ghost riders in the sky and other lines is an absolutely wonderful read. From start to finish, the lines of poetry that Laughton J. Collins, Jr has written within the pages of this book are masterful. The poems flow together well and the pictures included on most of the pages just adds something special to the collection. The poems have a wide range of subjects, touching on life and death, love and hate, heaven and hell, god and devil and everything in between. The titular ghost riders appear and reappear throughout the book. The pictures, also drawn by the author, have a childlike quality to them as they are mostly (but not all) stick figures. Some of the poems are long, some are short but they are all well crafted pieces of art held firmly within the covers of the book. The shortest poem in the collection is only two lines long but in those two lines, Collins is able to say all that needs to be said. Laughton J. Collins, Jr. Is a wonderful writer and I hope to see much more from him in the future. This book is definitely a must read for any fan of poetry.
