Introduction
The book in your hand is the culmination of over three years of extensive research. It draws on numerous sports-related books and periodical articles that document Armenian Iranians' achievements in the Iranian National Sports Teams or Federations, from 1900 to 2025.
In this publication, you can find biographies of 235 Armenians who are or were members of the Iranian National Sports Teams or Federations, serving in various capacities, including as Athletes, Coaches, Referees, or in administrative positions in Iran. They reached the highest level in International sports arenas, representing Iran. Twelve of them who served as Coaches, are from the Republic of Armenia.
"Sports Biographical Dictionary: Achievements of Armenians in Iranian National Sports Teams" is a very well-organized publication that also features photos of the athletes. I have attempted to include all available sports-related information, both in print and non-print media, in the main text, in alphabetical order. You can find all key information in a single and very comprehensive Master Index (names and subjects) in over twelve hundred entries, from A to Z, by Last Name, Subject or Keyword, from Auto Racing to Wrestling, at the end of the book.
This publication also includes three Appendices.
Appendix One contains the following sections:
1) Iranian Armenians who participated in the Summer or Winter Olympic Games, from 1900 to 2024.
2) Iranian Armenians who participated in the Summer or Winter Olympic Games, more than once, from 1948 to 2024.
Appendix Two contains the following sections:
1) Iranian Armenians who participated in the Summer Asian Games, from 1951 to 2022.
2) Iranian Armenians who participated in the Summer Asian Games, twice, from 1958 to 2022.
Appendix Three contains the following:
A table of 220 statistical pieces of information related to sports based on this publication.
This book is the 1st of its kind in the English language. I have made every effort to produce a highly accurate and valuable publication for sports enthusiasts, scholars, and educators who are interested in learning about the history and biographies of Iranian Armenian athletes. I have also included all references used in creating this compendium, following each athlete's biography.
My very first reference book was published in Iran, in 1979. My first book in the USA, entitled "Armenian American Almanac," was published in 1985.
This latest reference book is my 42nd publication, and it is my first biographical work about Armenians.
