Windship Farm is a gripping high-seas thriller of mystery, survival, and innovation—where a chance encounter in the fog may change the future of global energy.
Just days before the world erupts in the Russia-Ukraine war, Jasmine and Kave set out from Gloucester, Massachusetts in their thirty-foot fishing boat, chasing bluefin tuna across the remote Seamounts of the North Atlantic.
They sail straight into a nightmare.
After a violent storm disables their boat, a massive Chinese supertanker appears out of the fog, bearing down on them at full speed. The giant vessel shows no signs of slowing. Jasmine and Kave shout and wave frantically—but there is no response from the towering ship.
With only seconds to spare, they dive into the sea as the tanker crushes their boat beneath its steel hull.
The ship never stops.
As the vessel thunders past, they see a lifeboat trailing behind it on a long rope. Desperate for survival, they swim to the boat and climb aboard.
Inside they make a horrifying discovery.
A sailor lies dead, shot through the head.

“Kave, what is that?” Jasmine shouted over the roar of the waves crashing against the Albatross.
“Where?” he yelled.
“On the horizon.” She pointed to the north.
Kave wiped his eyes, trying to see through the pounding rain.
Their disabled boat rose to the crest of a fifteen-foot wave.
“A ship!” he yelled. “A big one.”
Jasmine ran from the wheelhouse. She jumped up and down, waving her arms. “We’re saved!”
Their craft slid down the backside of the wave.
“They’ll never see us.” Kave ran for the stairs leading down below. “I’m going to try to start the engine again.”
She ran behind him. “Do we have a flare gun?”
“In the galley, above the stove.”
He primed the engine and adjusted the choke.
“I found it.” She ran past him, toward the stairs.
“Don’t fire it until we’re on top of a wave.”
“Right.” She ran up the stairs as seawater poured down the steps.
Kave pressed the starter button, but nothing happened. He twisted the cables on the batteries, trying to make a better connection.
He braced himself against the bulkhead as the boat rolled to starboard. He hit the starter button again.
The engine groaned like an old bear not wanting to wake from hibernation.
Kave hit the button once more.
The motor coughed and popped, then died.
He pressed the starter button hard, holding it down.
Nothing. Not even a wheeze from the ancient engine.
He ran up the stairs, splashing through the water.
"I fured the flare gun,” Jasmine shouted. “It was bright red and flew really high. They had to see it.”
On top of the next wave, they saw the supertanker coming directly toward them.
“Wow,” Jasmine said. “It’s huge.”
“Yeah.”
They watched the ship grow larger by the second.
“They’ll have to slow down,” Kave said. “Otherwise, they’ll sail right past us.”
“Surely, they saw the flare and are coming to save us.”
“It’s not slowing at all,” Kave said.
“At that speed, it’ll take two or three miles for it to stop and turn back for us.”
The red and black supertanker plowed through the huge waves, throwing up a giant bow wave.
“I’m going to get another cartridge for the flare gun,” he yelled.
“I’ve got one.” She ejected the spent shell and inserted a fresh one.
“Shoot it right at them!”
She pointed at the ship and pulled the trigger.
The bright red flare flew over the bow and bounced onto the ship’s deck.
“They’re coming right at us!” Jasmine dropped the gun and gripped the railing, trying to keep her footing.
“There’s no one on deck. I don’t think they saw the flare.”
“Holy shit!” she cried. “It’s going to run us down!”
The ship was less than a hundred yards away and still coming at full speed.
Kave jerked Jasmine toward him, tightening the straps on her orange life jacket. “Come on!” He pulled her toward the stern.
“Oh, God, Kave! It’s going to...”
The ship crashed into the little boat amidships.
Kave held her tight in his arms as he jumped from the stern into the turbulent waves.
