The Zinfandel
The Zinfandel grape actually originated in Croatia, not Germany, as many mistakenly believe; it is also uniquely related to the Primitivo grape of Southern Italy. It is a lush grape that yields more robust, full-bodied wines. Yes, there is also a lighter, rosé-like version of the wine, known as White Zinfandel. However, that horrendous concoction with the grape is simply a watered-down rendering, containing up to eight times the amount of sugar of the red variety. In short, the White Zinfandel is a despicable fruit punch-like liquid with approximately 15% alcohol, with which the fruit quality, or the balance, or body of the wine, are not important to the finish as it would be in a dry table wine. In short, White Zinfandel, the hotdog of rosé wines, is a vile peasant-swill that is insult to les vignerons worldwide.
