The similarity of this novel's title to that of the name given my AuthorsDen site is not accidental. Several chapters from it were first presented on AD and the positive feedback from readers and fellow authors played an important role in the completion of the earliest editions of the book. The mythology behind the Black Skylark itself goes back much further and is discussed in a forthcoming memoir.
There is some basis for describing Songs from the Black Skylark zPed Music Player as a southern gothic rock and roll murder mystery. Yet there may be more reasons to consider it a mythopoeic love story in the mode of classic tales where heroes, and anti-heroes, attempt to challenge powers far greater than their own for the sake of reclaiming love stolen by tragedy.
The theme is also true of stories from fact-based history (including current history) wherein members of families torn apart by war or slavery have found themselves battling overwhelming odds and risking what remains of their lives to reconnect with their loved ones.
SONGS FROM THE BLACK SKYLARK ZPED MUSIC PLAYER is a novel that deals very frankly with issues such as suicide cults, overcoming childhood trauma, and controversial theories on spirituality.

...The boy had the same large dark eyes of the woman but his were more aggressively hostile than passively defiant and Danny Blue thought it possible that someone so angry had killed dozens of men for coming into his home and deciding it stank worse than a public restroom filled with a hundred unflushed toilets.
An amber-colored light bulb hung from the center of the ceiling and lit the room inside, revealing a torn pummeled couch against one wall and a battered wooden chair against another. Sitting on a rectangular wooden coffee table in front of the couch was an old radio. A song by CC Doggyboy very rapidly described the different ways he and his lover could amuse each other on a hot Saturday night. The young woman turned to the little boy and gave him the toddler sitting on her hip.
“Take her to Gran-Gran,” she said.
The little boy held the baby without moving, preferring to stare a volley of bullets straight through Danny Blue’s face.
Noting the intensity of the boy’s concentration upon him to the exclusion of any at all upon Ruzahn, Danny Blue saw himself walking with his mother and father when they came upon a man who had once given his mother money. The man and his father had shaken hands and laughed together while his mother looked away and Danny Blue stared at the man the way the boy was now staring at him. He wondered if he should give the boy the flower.

Makes me wish that you had offered more by way of an excerpt. It's been a while since I read from your stories and I'm sure that I haven't read all of them.
