“I told you 10:00 and I heard you repeat 10:00 sharp! I deserve an explanation not some wimpy excuse!” She said as she stamped her foot.
“OK, let’s calm down. I will tell you all about it. It’s not a big deal!”
“Don’t you dare patronize me just because I am a woman! How dare you! Who do you think you are? Do you think that just because you are popular you can treat me like shit? Well I have some news for you!” She was crying and she reached into her pocketbook, pulled out a snub-nosed revolver that could have been a .38 caliber, and pointed at my chest! The blood drained my face and heart and I took a slow step backwards with hands halfway up in a placating manner. My eyes were riveted to the barrel of the gun and the tensing of her hand.
“Sharon, calm down. If you want me to leave, I will just go and leave it at that. Let’s not get crazy here. I am moving away from you slowly…”
“Stop, don’t move!” she yelled. I froze and she cocked the hammer of the gun and I noticed that it looked more like a .357 magnum. I also noticed that her face was beginning to twitch, especially her right eye. I was beginning to think that she wasn’t sane. A body shot at this distance would be fatal. I was sweating and my mind was racing. What could I say to her that would calm her down and not further infuriate her?
“Stop, or I’m gonna shoot!” She turned her head slightly away as to get it away from the blast and I turned and jumped to the side. The noise sounded like a cannon as it echoed in the empty parking lot. It made my ears ring.
