On Your Own is for those who yearn for the real American Dream: Being your own boss. Choosing a path with heart and living the dream as long as you want it.

On Your Own is for the millions of Americans who work alone, either full-time or part-time, in offices inside and outside the home.

And for those who yearn for the real American Dream: Being your own boss. This indispensable survival guide for solo workers takes a long, hard, realistic look at the mental, physical, emotional, psychological, and motivational challenges of working alone. How to work happily, productively, and successfully from home.

On Your Own deals with the pleasures and perils, paybacks and pressures of working alone. It shows you how to stay focused, motivated, and organized working for yourself, by yourself. How to keep productive, motivated, psychologically grounded, and emotionally centered living your dream.

Excerpt

There's a hilarious scene in the 1983 movie Never Cry Wolf. The central character, a research scientist portrayed by Charles Martin Smith, has been deposited alone in the Arctic wilderness to observe a pack of wolves at close range. Soon realizing he must stake out his own territory in the midst of their domain, he fills his bladder with tea and Moosehead beer, then marks a two-acre circle around his tent, tracing the borders of his turf in typical lupine fashion. The wolves promptly acknowledge his claim.

I'm not suggesting you get yourself a six-pack to circumscribe your office at home. Conventional demarcations will be just fine. What's important is that you clearly and distinctly, physically and emotionally, distinguish where you work from where you live.

The break is critical.
