A monograph I wrote and illustrated with those small thumbnails sketches in 1972. My advisor, a prominent leader in technology studies, Paul W Devore, encourage me to write it after I present it in a brown bag lunch seminar using flip charts. The head of our department with a background in English, despised it.
When I wrote this, 50 years ago after making a presentation on a flipchart of artificial intelligence, my doctoral advisor asked me to write the first monograph in a series on technologies.
However, he told me that I would have to change the title, because he said, “There is nothing artificial about intelligence.”
I believe he was right, but the term, coined by professor John McCarthy in 1956 when he held a symposium on the subject, has become the norm for any assistive technology that seems to make us more intelligent.

Your title caught my eye as we are all wondering what "artificial intelligence" is going to do to our future world. I took a course on it and realized it could have good uses sorting through the "haystack" of data such as reading x-rays, comparing data bases etc. I gave it a try using Chat-GPS and was amazed at how quickly it pulled together an article--sort of a first draft that I could take and run with. However, I felt more like an editor than a writer. You still have to research its sources to be safe.
