“No, but like so many U. S. presidents, and other world leaders too, I think you’re concerning yourself with foreign matters while your domestic front is crumbling.”
Marlon rapped his palm against the tabletop and pointed at Wally. “Politics, exactly. What about Vietnam, Watergate? Don’t you think those are signs that our civilization is on the brink?”
“As long as we learn from those mistakes. Can you imagine another secluded, elitist, corrupt White House administration like Nixon’s, or the U. S. stumbling headlong into another untenable situation like Vietnam?”
There had to be another way to get through to Wally. Marlon picked up the phone. “Hello, Department of Denial? I have someone here you should talk to; he could run your entire western division.”
But Wally’d played this little game before. He picked up an imaginary phone that just happened to be sitting right in front of him. “No, sir, I’m afraid you’ve reached the Office of the Obvious and Oblivious. We’ve got a serious situation here with a man who’s trying to solve the world’s problems because he can’t face the troubles in his own life. Could you hold?”
Marlon grabbed his crotch and said, “Hold this,” before hanging up the phone.
