Where do you go when you have to escape a world your government has taken over and destroyed? When you've done your best not to let the new society bring you down, but their is so much violence you can't even spend time outside with your family or feel safe going to the grocery store? How do you escape a world of war?

We couldn’t live with the wars any longer. The violent acts happening on our home, Earth, were proving to be too much. People weren’t happy, and were always afraid for themselves and their families. The schools were not safe; the stores were not safe. It wasn’t safe for our children to play outside, even on our own lawns. There was no place to hide, so we knew we had to leave. But how? Where would we go?
Through word of mouth we learned about the government’s plan, and the spacecrafts that would take them to a new planet when they needed to leave Earth. They’d leave us all behind to deal with the wars that were going on. The wars they had caused. They’d have save only themselves.
There were five other families living on our street. We had known them all of our lives, and knew they could be trusted. Meetings with them were held in secret, to decide how we would save our families.
On the night we were to leave Earth, we went to the base. The trip was made on foot, the only lights being those from the base itself. We had obtained vials of a drug that would knock a person out but wouldn’t kill him, and we snuck up on the guards and injected the drug into each of them.
We made our way to the spacecrafts, commandeering two of them, and by sheer luck were able to get them into space. However, somewhere along the way we lost control of the one my family was on. They managed to keep the other ship near ours, thank goodness. We thought we’d surely die, but after many days our ship started orbiting around a planet.
Looking out the windows, we thought we were orbiting Earth. What were we supposed to do next? All we could do was wait.
