Tough times befall so many of us, we can feel for a family who has also fallen. We want to hear more about their story, and how they recovered. We want to know they make it back up; that they have worked toward a better outcome.
Sometimes it seems impossible to get back up, especially when you feel pulled down more and more as time goes by. Just when things seem to be getting better, something unforseen happens. Something you never would have even imagined. And you have to run. Seemingly, at least in that moment, for your life.
Read this story from Tales from the Woods to see how things can go from bad to worse.
Excerpt
I woke to someone looking in my window at me again. I screamed near about the whole time dad was running around looking for someone outside, but he didn’t see anyone. Mom stayed with me again until I fell asleep. This time, she was still there when I awoke the next morning.
During breakfast she told me she'd be teaching me to make the curtains. Dad and my older brothers were told to get those curtain rods up. Then dad was to hang the shelves. My brothers would also be in charge of putting the pictures up on the shelves.
We made the curtains rather quickly with the old sewing machine mom had borrowed from George’s wife. She was grateful to have it, she said, because otherwise it would take them all week to get the curtains made.
