"I knew you couldn't resist me forever," she heard announced as he translocated himself onto her lap in the exact same pose he'd been in before they'd been interrupted the month before. "Now where were we again?"
"Where? How?" Mel took a steadying breath and tried again. "I didn't hear you approach."
"I'm stealthy, besides I was afraid you'd run away on me again if you heard me coming." He told her with a grin.
"You're right I would have." She grumbled under her breath.
"Now I believe that before we were so rudely interrupted you were about to affectionately brush away the hair from my forehead."
Mel laughed, he reminded her so much of a puppy in need of love and affection. She hadn't the heart to send him away.
"Where's your girl..."
"She isn't now, nor has she ever been my girlfriend."
Mel just sat there watching him, until he caved.
"She's home under punishment. Her mother was furious with her for threatening you."
Shock suffused her. "Why ever for? She was only doing what most women would do if they caught their man being cozy with another woman."
"Is that what you would do?"
Mel looked away from him. "Depends on the man. Most likely not. If the man I was seeing wanted someone else. I'd let him go. Why try to force him to stay if he doesn't want me anymore, I mean why make us both Miserable?"
She could feel his eyes on her and couldn't resist their pull. "See, there was another way she could have handled the situation."
Mel started shaking her head. "Not for a woman like her, she's very beautiful after all. Unlike me..."
"She may be beautiful on the outside, but definitely not on the inside. Where you precious are beautiful inside and out. Now will you please pay me a little affection? I have been waiting almost an eternity to see you again."
Mel laughed at his whiny tone; she could almost believe he’d missed her. "You’re worse than a puppy trying to get some attention."
"Am I as cute as a puppy?"
Mel scowled at him. "Stop fishing for compliments you conceited man. You know very well how handsome you are. Now please explain to me why I seem to be the object of your attentions."
She watched a true pout appear on his lips. The look was so out of place it tempted her to kiss that look off his face. That thought startled her.
"Not until you start with my affection."
Mel laughed, "You’re incorrigible." She began to gently run her fingers through his very beautiful, long, soft, thick black hair. When the sun hit it showed blue highlights, she loved the color. A soft sigh escaped her. She couldn't believe how silky it felt. As coercions go even if he hadn't demanded it, she would have done this on her own sooner or later. Mel grinned as Danan's eyes drifted closed and a look of pure bliss drifted across his face. The image of him wagging his tail in happiness flowed over her and her grin widened. Looking at him she wondered what he could be thinking about.
