After all, no one had ever heard her side of the story. She was never mentally stable enough to tell it in the past. It was a foreboding place. It gave me chills and I suspected it was worthy of every bad accusation ever leveled against it. I was ushered into a huge room with high ceilings and graying walls. Dozens of empty-eyed people sat in wheelchairs or easy chairs, lost in worlds of their own.
