In the e-book How To Be an Extraordinary Coach, 450 Powerful Questions, I focus on the art of powerful questioning as a tool to help you take your coaching to even greater heights, own it and be outstanding.
My idea for this book came about one day before a coaching session with a client who was struggling with a certain situation in his life. We could not seem to move forward from a particular point. I got out my dog-eared notebook of all my coaching questions and started separating them into specific related areas in an effort to look for all the questions that might be relevant to my client’s situation. As I did this I got more and more excited about finding the right question for my client. That particular session with the right question marked the shift in his perspective and growth process. From that point on he moved ahead in leaps and bounds. I knew I had come across a very useful tool for my own and immediately wanted to share it with fellow coaches and so How to be an Extraordinary Coach was born.
To make it clear, in my coaching style I prefer to not have any pre-conceived expectations about any line of direction in which the coaching session might go. I never want to influence the course a session may take by following fixed coaching models, formulas and questions. So I do not have the questions that I might possibly use ready beforehand. I do, however, have my book of coaching questions next to me on my desk so that if need be that one powerful question I may need is right at hand.
The book is easy and effective to use. When I know that I want and need a unique, direct and open question for my client I turn to my 450 Powerful Questions, and quickly, without being distracted, go to the CONTENT page, look up the page number for the questions, turn to that page, and there in front of me I have all the help I could possibly need. Some content areas have more questions than others. I did not stick to any plan about how many questions to put in each section. My only plan was to share what I had within each content area. I have included space at the bottom of each section for you to scribble notes, let your own creativity flow and for you to add your own powerful questions.
These questions help my clients to get unstuck. How to be an Extraordinary Coach continues to be an invaluable resource not only for my coaching, but also for my own self-growth. Selected questions have saved the day for me many a time and have helped me make wiser and higher choices. I hope that this book and all its questions will be as useful to you as it has been, and continues to be for me.
