Excerpt
"One of the greatest labor-saving inventions of today is tomorrow."
--Vincent T. Fos
When done properly, there really is a beautiful side to procrastination. I call that Productive Procrastination. Isn't that a freeing thought? Included in this heading are many of those things on your to-do list that aren't getting done. In this section, we'll discuss a number of reasons why some those to-do's should be postponed, and how procrastination might not really be what's going on with some of the others.
Here's a little secret. The most successful people procrastinate productively all the time. It's true!
Productive procrastination is…are you ready…the same thing as effective time management!
Are you a super-hero?
After all, you only have 24/7/365 (except for Leap year, and you're probably just giddy with anticipation over an additional 24 hours, aren't you?). There's only so much you can pack into that time. You can "have it all", but you just might not be able to have it all at once.
Compare your life to what it was like 15 or 20 years ago. Didn't it seem a lot less complicated? Wasn't there considerably less pressure to be buff, beautiful, smart, sexy, successful, wealthy, and wise than there is today? There were fewer obligations, demands on your time, or numbers and types of expectations. In this 21st century, we are blessed with a vast multitude of conveniences, opportunities, events to attend, subjects to learn, organizations to participate in, and other choices of many varied kinds. Indeed, there is such an overabundance of them that we end up feeling more stressed than blessed!
There is simply no precedent in the history of species Homo sapiens for dealing with this amount of complexity, information, and choice. It's understandable that many of us end up procrastinating, whether productively or destructively, as we wend our way through which long distance, and/or regional, and/or cellular provider to sign up for, and then we have to consider each provider's multiple plans.
