I wrote this little book for Alton, Anthony, myself, and everyone who knew and loved Harley, while hoping that everyone who reads it will learn from my mistake.
Remember to visit your local animal shelter when you decide to adopt a pet. They have adorable fur babies just waiting to be adopted by loving families. And they will love you forever if given the chance.

I’ll always remember Harley, and I will always love him, and I wouldn't have it any other way, because remembering my little fur baby, keeps him alive in my mind. He’s a precious memory.

Remembering Harley: We Will Always Love You by Malinda Mitchell is a short story filled with love for a beloved pet that passed away. When Mitchell’s family first adopted Harley the Chiweenie from the animal shelter, little did they know that the little bundle of fur would take up such a big part of their hearts.
Remembering Harley is a book filled with memories of a beloved pet. I loved that Mitchell included actual pictures of Harley. I also liked the stories about him, especially about him talking. You can tell that Harley was loved very much and that he was happy. I felt Mitchell’s pain when Harley passed away. Mitchell wrote this book to warn others to keep a close eye on their pets, because you never know what can happen to them. Mitchell also wanted to inform readers that animal shelters have animals that need loving homes. I can tell that Mitchell blames herself for Harley’s death, but it is not her fault.
Losing a beloved pet is like losing a member of one’s own family. I would not say that Remembering Harley is a children’s book as much as it is a memoir. I did like the book, but I had trouble explaining what happened to Harley to my 3-year-old. Death is always a tricky subject to explain to children. I think that this would be a good book to give out at animal shelters. It will help raise awareness for pets that need loving homes.
