"Hey Mark," Smitty yelled when he entered the store. "What the hell?"
The manager stumbled from the back room covered in blood. "Dude," Smitty yelled. "What happened."
"These guys came in and trashed the place. They wanted me to open the safe. I don't know the combination. Only the day manager knows it. I tried to tell them. They hit me again and again. The Dewey's guy came. I thought they would leave, but they jumped him. They rammed my face into the front of the safe."
"Where's the Dewey's guy?" Smitty saw a pile of boxes on the floor and legs near them. There was Mark. He was slumped in an aisle, like he tried to crawl away. Smitty yelled for the manager to call the police. "Mark, wake up," Smitty hollered.
