If Dogs Could Talk

Category:  Family
Publisher: Triad Publishing Group

Type: Fiction

This is the story about Charlie, who's a dog. Except, he doesn't know that he's a dog, and he'll even tell you that he doesn't like dogs. When Charlie has to go live with his grandma & grandpa, he finds out that they have FOUR DOGS! He's not happy, so he sets out on an adventure into the woods where he meets many different anmials, that he thinks that he might be related to. It isn't until he meets T.R. Weasel,(the wise guru of the forest) that Charlie finally realizes who he is.

You'll meet Billy bear, who tries to convince Charlie that he's probably a bear. Then there's lovely Lilly Ladybug, who is thrilled that Charlie knows, and lives with Elvis. (little does she know that Elvis is a dog) This story is a true adventure for all animal lovers. It gives the reader a little insight into the animal characters life and habits. It helps us accept each other for who we are. But most important, it teaches us to not try to be somebody that we're not. To be happy with ourselves, find the self worth that each of us possess and be proud of who we are! Every dog has a tail....and this one's Charlie's!

Excerpt

I found a nice spot in the sun and had just settled down, when something landed smack in the middle of my nose! “Oops, sorry mister,” It said. “I didn’t know that you were here.” I had to look cross eyed to see this thing. It was a little tiny red dot, no bigger than a pea. It had tiny black spots on it, and it was walking around on the tip of my nose. “Hey, don’t bite me!” I yelled. “I’m not going to bite you, mister, I’m not a skeeter!” “What’s a skeeter?” I asked. “You know…a mosquito! Now THEY bite! But I don’t bite. I’m a ladybug. My name is Lilly ladybug, and I bring good luck!” She said. “Good luck?” I said. “Boy, I sure could use some good luck. I just found out that I’m a weasel, and I don’t even know what a weasel is! By the way, how’d you get here?” Lilly ladybug said, “I flew here and landed on your nose. I have tiny wings that carry me everywhere. You know… you don’t look like a weasel, you look like a dog!” “Ahh…shows how much you know!” I said. “I’m not a dog. I don’t even LIKE dogs…..except maybe… Sundance, Bandit, Bubba and Elvis.” “ELVIS!” Lilly ladybug yelled. “YOU KNOW ELVIS?” “Of course I know Elvis,” I said. “I live with him!”
