Beneath the Gavel by Stephen Murphy is a fantastic read—absolutely full of suspense and twists that kept me hooked from start to finish. I truly couldn’t put it down. Murphy’s storytelling is sharp, engaging, and masterfully written. A great book that I highly recommend to anyone who loves a gripping page-turner. Well done to the author!

Murphy has written another stellar page turner, complete with his usual collection of vivid and interesting characters. He writes with not only a insider's keen knowledge of the judicial system, but a great understanding of human nature. While the plot moves quickly and is filled with twists and turns, he takes the time to flesh out the characters while not interrupting the flow. I've read his other books - loved them - but this is his best yet. This is compulsive, insightful and fun. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

I am a lawyer living in San Francisco. This is a book that is true to both my profession and my city. The plot is fascinating, the characters well drawn. A picture of San Francisco that will engage locals but I think very much those who have not been here. The streets and places mentioned are real. The legal ins and outs are true and the plot is fascinating. Family, the law, the city and most of all a genuine page turning mystery/procedural. Written by a judge who knows the system.
